Go to Hong Kong, there are over 8 Audio shops you can demo every HP, HP amp, Dacs. You can sit all day.
I'll have to make another trip. Last time was spent with the missus sightseeing.

I would love that! I wouldn't know what to with myself if I had that kind of access to headphones.Go to Hong Kong, there are over 8 Audio shops you can demo every HP, HP amp, Dacs. You can sit all day.
Spend 1 day per week sitting in the demo room for 6 or 7 hrss.I would love that! I wouldn't know what to with myself if I had that kind of access to headphones.
I have the AH-D7200's and before that the AH-D7100's and to my ears the TH-900's are better. The D7200's are really good but they are not as dynamic sounding as the TH900's. The TH900's are more vivid and livelier. The D7200's seems to tuned just above reference to my ears. But they are very good in their own right. My D7200's are still opening up but I still don't believe they'll reach the TH900's tuning when it's all said and done. They are definitely an upgrade to the Denons to my ears.I've been thinking about trying the TH900, but I already have the AH-D7000 and am curious how they compare. I would guess them to have a somewhat similar signature because, you know...
I'm sure this has been rehashed a zillion times, but surprisingly, I found it hard to find direct comparisons.
Any thoughts?
Have you had a chance to compare the LCD-4's to the TH900's?Spend 1 day per week sitting in the demo room for 6 or 7 hrss.
Well If I teally liked it than I would buy it. They are huge but do sound teally nice. Not the same sound as the TH900. Cant go out with it.Have you had a chance to compare the LCD-4's to the TH900's?

I agree with your assessment that the TH900's are keepers regardless of any other headphone purchases. I'm waiting for the Utopias to come down in price. I'm sure they are probably worth their asking price but I just can't bring myself to pay that much. The Utopia is amazing no doubt. But it can't match the bass response or sparkly highs of the TH900 which is what gives that fun sound. They're very different headphones. I wouldn't buy a Utopia for more than $2,000 and even then, I'd keep the TH900. IMO, no pair of headphones should be more than $2k. The price inflation in this industry is absurd.
Me neither. If I were to spend these astronomical sums, might as go all out and get into electrostatics or speakers.I agree with your assessment that the TH900's are keepers regardless of any other headphone purchases. Grado's are the one headphone I want to get a listen too. I'm not sure what would be a good one to demo as I'm totally unfamiliar with their sound. I've read good things about the GH2's and thought about doing a blind purchase of them but I'm not sure. I do love a full sounding, dynamic headphone and my TH900 MKII's are the best I've heard so far. I have the Focal Utopia's in my sight but that's a future purchase.
Nice, can the Grado's do bass as well as the TH900's?Grado's are certainly great.. they are the only other over the ear headphone i own apart from the 900s.. my custom rosewood pair:
very open (obviously) so they sound almost orchestra like... i enjoy EDM so if i want to feel like i am 'there', Grado is my pick.
