Didn't see any other threads about this but it looks like Fostex is announcing their TH900 flagship at CanJam!

Nice balanced sound. Bass has good punch. Volume is ok could use just a touch more. Nothing bleeds. Mids are good but slightly recessed. Highs are very clear. No sibilance. Highs sparkle but aren't hot. This is nice. Stage is medium. Center focus is good not great. Imaging is average. Most sounds feel like they are grouped at 10 and 2 with only vocals in center. Vocals are nice but could be better. Fit is very comfortable. Not heavy, no clamp. Cable is one of the best OEM I've ever seen. Kind of a woven cloth. Could easily recommend.

This was all before I heard the price. These still sound good just as my notes say, but my recommendation is not strong now. There are better options at this price. I wouldn't blame anyone for liking these, but I would question their money decisions. A guarded recommendation here.

Take your pick, HD800, LCD2, LCD3, AD2000, T5p, T1, HE-500, HE-6, others.. all are as good or better imo for the price. The Fostex guy told me the TH900 was $2000.

What what what your kidding right , non planer with this price, the LCD3=$2000 ok maybe but this , no way.
Of the above I really like the HE-500 and TI , whats your personal weak spot of the above

On the right setup I prefer in order (of those mentioned) LCD3, HE6, HD800, AD2000 = HE500.

fostex should price these very fair, no headphone is perfect it is just good and likeable not overblown whilst leaving the other naked like roll off and recessed.

I think it is made of Zelkova Serrata wood (the same as in Sony MDR R10) and uses the
Urushi lacquer from Japanese poison ivy
I would like to know about the sound, is it worth 2000$?

If this potentially can go up against Sony R10, maybe $2000 does not sound too bad.
