My bad I didn't see the "a" in front of the d2k the first time I read it. If you do like the d2k over the 7k and 600 more power to ya but I think you are one of the few. As for audio technica I can't really speak to their headphones. I have only tried 2, the m-50 and the w5000 and I wasn't a big fan.

what did u not like about the w5k?

I was wondering why you said that...

Audio Technica ATH-AD2000

-.- why bring up an open back ATH can in a thread about the Closed Bass Heavy Th 600 lol. Granted I like open backs more than closed my self but I wouldn't use the TH 600 with the same genres as I would the ATH AD2k

Although :O, I do love my w1000x. I ought to try the open back ATHs... but nah they could never compete with the Byer Dt 880s comfort and ease of use! [not to mention durability] But I'm sure in sound they are about even

What are the benefits?

As I said, mainly it's expansion of space and more precise positioning of the imaginary sound sources therein... as a side benefit is a little more controlled bass with a little bit more midbass compared to stock pads, also there is little less sibilance with LA pads... but again, the main benefit is expansion of space.
