So above gap that is allowing pressure to leak out so the seal isn't as good but foam breathable ring around the driver making it somewhat better. Inside pics using a circuit board for the balanced part except if they are passively eqing the sound that has to go. The white square very thick. They must have royally f upped this headphone. Here's no white square it's paper. So time to fix it.

I put back white sheets behind the drivers this tuning material seems to have same effect when removed with just sounding worse.

I ended removing the Polly fill and the material closing off the holes on the back of each cup. Highs are not what they where and more linear with midrange the bass is subwoofer level.

I also removed foam rings going around the driver

I personally didn’t like the poly fill in mine. Worked well on the 50’s but not the 60’s.

That's what I found also the correct type of fill. I use Acousta-Stuf from
Partsexpress.com
Acousta-Stuf is designed for audio applications. Though there's diffusing the sound to minimize standing waves

So last night I got them where I wanted them. Bass head for edm pop and hip-hop. I have dynamat extreme on way to applied to the base. I'll apply underneath.

I start 1st with is the three port holes on the cup. I blocked one hole leaving two open. I used stick on felt material used in arts and crafts.

I followed with Acousta-Stuf from parts express. I tried the stuff method but it didn't work. So different approach needed. Did thin layer at the entire cavity. Fluffy not dense. I then added another amount fluffed but rolled on above the port which added the dense amount needed for bass. Looking at a pic won't show much it about correct amount. The instructions of the Acousta Stuff lead me to this conclusion.

no other internal material used only made sure the wire didn't displace the fill material by moving it.

Once base is screwed back on I put the factory foam ring back. Just to mention there is left over residue fibers from trying the craft material on the top side of the base. This made treble horrible.

Last after 3 ZMF Oval pads found protein leather did the best. You would need to modify the bass port to your liking. There isn't a whole lot of genius going on here might sound like crap to others.

Is treble fully fixed no but it hits harder then many of the dynamics I've owned.

Reference points headphones

Abyss 1266 original and TC
Meze Elite
Smeggy Thunderpants
Modhouse Argon mk 2 only changed the Polly fill.
Modhouse Argon mk3 not even a Modhouse anymore fixed that ones bass and treble.

Fostex real consumer headphones are the dynamics the T50rp are for pro use and t60 are just a luke warm attempt.

I haven’t given my T60 a good listen since adding the upgraded mayflower baffles and AH sheepskin ear pads. Yesterday I did a whole day of listening.

The baffles do add a lot of bass, less on the T50’s. But, I let my ears adjust and it’s not as bad as I initially thought, just a shock after hearing them as stock treble kings.

I haven’t lost much detail, a bit but not bad. My parks audio preamp allows me to adjust bass and one tic down from flat does the trick. It’s all source dependent as some music sounds perfect with no adjustment.

I will say, being wood cups, it’s amazing how different they can sound from stock just changing the baffles and ear pads. They become a completely different headphone. Right now they are clearly my favorite. The T50’s with the same slap on mods, but with some very thin spread out poly (which sucked the bass out on the T60’s and promptly removed) sound completely different being plastic. It took some experimenting with poly to get it right. Just a very small amount spread out very thin increased bass just a tad on the T50’s, more making them less hollow sounding.

I love the T60’s now.

I experimented with my T60's a little with the mayflower baffles and a couple different ZMF pads, blocking ports... In the end, I ended up sending them to Modhouse for modding. Had a issue once they came back with the right ear cuff cutting out so sent them back for repairs. But I will tell you, when they weren't cutting out after the mod, I truly fell in love with the Modhouse sound signature. Much better than anything I've could have come up with. It was a big bummer that the right cup kept cutting out with a slight touch of the black wire coming out of the cup. Not blaming Ryan at Modhouse. Maybe something happened during shipping, idk. Looking forward to getting them back from him fixed so I can enjoy my T60's once again.

I am actually baffled how Fostex were able to make a wood cup sound so thin and have so much boosted HF. Some people love the detail but I thought it was too much.

I wish I had the money to spend on such a Mod, but I don't.

I got bored. Took a chance and soldered directly to the film where stock wires attach.

Got my T60's back from Modhouse and............. they are just everything I was looking for. Bifrost 2, Jotunheim 2, Modhouse Argon T60RP make for an amazing listening experience. I couldn't be more satisfied and happy.
