That's exactly what I experienced with the ZMF Ovals - The bass was really bloomy and while it was definitely bassier, it was uncontrolled, muddy bass. The treble was a bit tamed overall with these pads but the mids were pushed back in the mix further than i would like. Just an overall nope for me but I know these things can be highly subjective. YMMV etc..

I might order the fenestrated and pleather oval Brainwavz and try those with the Beyer foam. At the moment this seems like a winning combo for me. I'm comparing side by side with my Amiron Home and Sundara. This T60 with my adjustments all the way!

I suspected as much earlier today, I have quite a driver mismatch. Really poor show Fostex. These will be going back to Amazon for replacement. Fingers crossed for the next pair!

As far as I read they have wood cups but are otherwise the same. The mods are definitely the way to go. See the post after yours...

I think the Z Review video specifically covering this vs the T50RP Argon covers your question. I appreciate the Z Review videos are generally just rambling as opposed to actual comparisons, but it seems to be the only direct comparison video I've found. I haven't heard the T50 sorry, this T60 is my first Fostex (and it's already got to go back for replacement due to the left and right balance being right out).

Sorry I'm too lazy to go thru this entire thread.
I'm going to order the stock (OEM) t60rp soon from Amazon.
I'm not -- as of now -- interested in either sending OEM unit out for mods, much less purchasing pre-modded units (Argon, etc).
I want the before and after experience!!!
So can someone please summarize, say, the top five (5) DIY mods. I.e., the most effective DIY mods.
I think the ZMF pads are at or near the top (correct?)
I am willing to open the T60 up to perform internal mods.

P.S.
I think I will probably use my SMSL sp200 amp to drive them, so balanced cable option is possible if enough of you think this is a top-5 mod.

Hey all,

Help me out with a sanity check. Had a listen to the T60rp recently and fell for them completely, my kind of sound. I recently downsized all my gear and run my cans through a iFi Zen CAN amp. Would this have any trouble pushing the T60rps?

Got mine few days back. Burned in for 48 hrs (XLO burn-in tracks), at low/mid volume. Better now.
Still confused about best pad upgrades. ZMF protein seem to be the popular choice.

How does theTH500RP compare to theT60RP? Are there any comparisons made? I had the T60RP on my list but stumbled on the larger ‘open’ one. . . You what then happens - stalling a purchase.

I think they are the same except for the wood cups.

No really meant the ‘larger’ TH500RP with the outside of te cups with a mesh plate .
I heard the ‘plastic’ T50RP - already awesome. My wife promised me a T60rp but a lot things came between me and the present this year.
