Is there any breakin time for these headphones, running 10 hrs of pink noise tonight, wondering if it's worth it

UPDATE: If you are looking for a reasonablely priced amp to pair with the headphones, check out the Emotiva basx a-100. With one modification you can power any high impedance headphone you can think of. Amazing bang for the buck

Hello. I am looking at maybe getting these and was curious if anyone can give comparison to audioquest nighthawk or nightowl?

Do we have a definite answer for the balanced pinout at the 3.5mm trrs cup side, should it be L+R+L-R- standard or the Fostex one described on the manual L+R+R-L- ?

I just checked again, but this time I took pictures.
Here is the connector I'm using.

Now here is a picture of the right driver.
As you can see R+ is the red wire, while R- is the white one.

On the next picture you will see me making contact between the white wire (R-) and the sleeve of the balanced 3.5 jack connector.

Same thing on the following picture, but this time it's R+. And again, you can see the multimeter indicating that it's making contact. (Zoom on the picture if you can't see well)

Another picture of the 3.5 balanced female jack connector inside the headphones :

Finally, one last picture that confirms that the Fostex uses the standart pinout L+ R+ L- R-. Here I'm making contact between the white wire from the female connector and the sleeve of the male connector.

I think that's it lol. I would have loved to try different pads since I have a ton of them but I can't since my unit is defective. rip me
And sorry for my bad English, I'm French.

Excellent description, I was pretty sure it was until the booklet with the headphones was checked.

Looking at the diagram again it's not right but not wrong R- is going to the 2nd ring and L- to the sleeve but seeing as they are both ground in the single end mode it's a mix of both negatives anyway, it just would have been a good idea to put the termination correct as if in balanced which would have had no difference if your using single end anyway, but the pics just nicely confirmed the actual internal connections and metering in series the R+R- / L+L- if wired correctly gives you around 47 ohms each side so it's definitely correct. Just got to add the pilot pad and Zmf angled pads and good to go !

Bit of lightweight modding for my own tastes, leather strap removed ( never liked them ) Zmf lambskin pilot fitted, sheepskin pads fitted only about another 6mm in thickness not to spoil any out of the box tuning ( may play around later) sticky back felt over the ugly ass screws on inside of sliders and a correctly wired balanced cable with mini 3.5mm trrs jack fits nice and snug didn't want to put a regular one on with a step and a slight touch of high grade wood polish to protect and bring out the natural grain. Now time to give these some serious listening time.

Looks great! How do they sound after the pad swap?

Basically the same apart from a touch of increased bass which is nice and tight, I've had a decent amount of headphones over the years but these are by far the best sounding for the price. Will give a few more thoughts once I have given them a bit more playtime.
