Fostex HP-V8 Pure Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier Announced!

How would this be limited if it doesn't have a remote control? And if it is just an amp, what would that remote control even control?

Due to where I sit when using my headphones, remote control for me is critical and has limited my choice of amplifier considerably.  Fortunately my current amp is remote controlled. I only really need to control the volume and as I listen to a wide range music, I'd really struggle to use any amp without this feature.

I went to Fostex showroom to lesten to this amp today!
I did A/Btesting between HP-A8 and HP-V8 with stock TH900.
Tunes was J.S.Bach violin concertos.
The difference is HUGE!!!
HP-V8 sounds very organic and very smooth and very musical and slightly soft and very euphoric!
HP-A8 sounds digital and harsh and cheap...oh well
I absolutely will sell my shares to buy a HP-V8 in this autumn...

I'm pretty sure it does beat the A8, but the question is how will it compete with other tube amps like Eddie Current, Woo, DNA, etc...
There are quite a few contenders if the amp is somewhere in the price class that was mentioned here before.

I don't think it could be able to drive the HE-6 properly and borderline the HE1000.
Since somebody said it can also use 300b tubes I was hoping for something closer to 8 watts.

I heard the $26,000 price is correct....... But in Hong Kong Dollars (3000 euro) and $4600 AUS. I hope this is correct as I really want one now. Looks great.

But I bet here in Oz it will be like $6K+ :frowning2:

UPDATE: Spoke to the local Oz distributor. They said the Oz RRP will be close to the Euro price so he said more like $4499 odd. He has my details for a pre-order now :D
