For those that have tried customized universals with Fisher Hearing or others, and tried JHA or UE customs | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org

Sorry for the long title, I wanted to be real specific. Anyways, for those that have tried them, do you think it is worth it to go with JHA or UE over customizing universals like SE530 or TF10? I want to know your reasons why. Thanks.

Not much experience with shelling universals but purpose built comes to mind. If you think about how much just swapping tips changes the sound, it's rather hard to predict how a conversion will end up. Personally, I would buy a cheap custom like UE4/JH5 before I had a universal customized.
