Edit: Someone send help, i've been entrapped by a really stunning sounding chain (the C3R on DAC duty adds some nice detail and seperation) and all i have is great music, a very nice dram (Ardbeg 10) and some fudge!

Doing a little afternoon listening before I've got to buckle down and handle business. Right now I'm running on the FiR Audio Xenon 6 CIEMs and I'm driving them off of my humble iBasso DX160 (w/ Fidelizer ROM, debloated). The DX160 has quickly become one of my favorite pairings with the Xenon 6s. The musicality and the low end punch and heft are addictingly fun while still being timbrally/tonally accurate. On paper I would've thought the DX160 would take them too far, but that's just not the case.
Sitting atop my current queue are Party Dozen with their 2024 album, Crime in Australia. PD are an Australian post-punk duo whose music is primarily instrumental, as fast and chaotic as the post-punk label would suggest, and full to the brim with constant experimentation. If I'm being honest, I don't think all of their experiments are successful, but the raw energy and the feeling when something their doing does click with me has kept me coming back since discovering their work quite recently. There's so much going on within the layers of music, that I always find myself discovering a new perspective or entirely new element every time I give one of their albums a spin. It's not for everybody and it's not forevery mood, but if you're looking for something different and perhaps a little out there, then give these guys (guy and girl actually) a whirl. If you're into post-punk expressionism and experimentation or the more avant garde side of indie then Party Dozen and thus album might be right in your wheelhouse.

So I finished up watching Andor season 2. I went right into Rogue One then A New Hope and tonight Im on Empire (honestly, Andor makes Rogue one and the OG Triolgy hit differently now. The best Star Wars TV show by far). So Im at the part where Luke meets Yoda on Degobah and Luke says "I wont fail you, Im not afraid" And Yode replies " Oh, you will be... you will be".
Well that reminds of a show I went to in the late 90s to catch this band called Morning Again. The venue was pretty far from home and we get all the way there and just to find out Morning Again canceled. Filling in for them was this band from NJ called For the Love Of. We had never heard of them and we almost decided to bail and head home to get drunk, but we were there and said F it.. lets just go in.
For the Love of comes out with an anvil and the lead singer starts beating on it with a sledgehammer. Its this little venue and it was ringing through the whole place, it was so loud! Then they open up and just absolutely crush it. The place went nuts. That turned into one of the most memorable shows Ive ever been to.
Anyway... the reason I bring up Star Wars is bc the song Flatline on this album starts with that dialog. It also happens to be my favorite song on the album (the breakdown goes hard AF). So while watching Empire, that show popped into my head. And now hear I am. I stopped watching the movie so I can listen to this amazing album

I recently just got the AKG K702, and I'm really loving it. A little thin, but EQ has given plenty of bass. Really love the separation/soundstage/imaging. Makes me curious to try other AKG headphones, but from what I've been reading here and elsewhere, these might be the best based on what I like about them.
