Qobuz > E70V > A90D > FiiO FD1
These still sound extremely nice for the price and scale very well.

Fire Wire (2006) by Larry Carlton - I pulled on the Grados and went exploring on Amazon HD and found this particular little happy place. It's one of his rockier albums and comes across as quite heavy on a few tracks, such as Big Trouble, which has some really crunchy guitar passages that sound really good through the RS-1x. I started off with Weather Report (The Jaco Years) and got here somehow using Amazon's related artists algorithm. Music's great, headphones are great and I'm a happy bunny - must do this more often.
I’ll look up this album. Saw Larry Carlton w/ Steely Dan, live in Chicago, 2009 w/ my son. Thanks for posting.

Yellowjackets (1981) by Yellowjackets - Fusion band originally put together to record Robben Ford's first solo album. When Ford left after the second album they replaced guitar with Saxophone, which is how it remains to this day. Being primarily a guitar fanatic, I'm mostly interested in the first two albums but I am intrigued to hear what they morphed into by moving from guitar to sax as lead instrument, so a post 1983 album is going to be next in the queue. I'm rather impressed with Ford's guitar sound, it's not the usual somewhat muted jazz guitar sound, there's quite a bit of overdrive involved and it actually sounds quite rocky. My trusty DT1990's are doing a nice job with this album, the cymbals and hi-hat sound crisp and detailed, which is something I miss with some of my headphones (D7200 and HD650) due to my 66yr old ears.

Deezer > Topping E30 > Singxer SA-1 > Beyerdynamic T90 with innerfidelity's AutoEQ profile and Dekoni pads
Horrible headphones untreated due to the treble spikes, but technicalities on the Tesla drivers are great and they respond extremely well to EQ

There is something so indescribably pure about a sax-drum-bass jazz trio. Simply mixed, sax in the left channel, bass in the right and drums hovering in the middle/right.

Perfection.

Thanks for the tip. Starting my morning off listening to this, and what a way to start!

I am still on the planar train, just changing cars. A few days with the HiFiman HE6se V2's, eight days with the Quad ERA-1's and now I am finishing up with the Nectar Sound Bee's. Next week I will get back to DD's.

PS: The last two don't come close to the HiFiman's, IMO.

If you love Medeval folk, the Balkan - Honey and Blood by Jordi Savall is not to be missed.

The Free Story (1973) by Free - Probably my most played vinyl of 1973, I pretty much wore out my copy by the end of the year. It's got all of my favourites except for Wishing Well, which was on Heartbreaker, released later the same year. Listening to it now in 24/192 format and it's sounding rather wonderful through the RS-1x. Andy Fraser is one of my favourite bass players and his sound is so crisp and punchy through the Grados and this is with no bass shelf EQ. I'm currently listening to Heavy Load, which is a real standout, Kossoff's guitar is used sparingly but when it comes in it comes in with a gut punch at the end as Paul Rodgers cranks it up. All in all, this has to be one of my favourite albums of all time with a perfect mix of soft ballads and raunchy blues rock played by one of the most talented rock bands ever put together.
