Not listening to anything in particular, just putting them through their paces. They're obviously lovely sounding, I just can't remember how the HD800 sounded, so I don't know how they compare. They're certainly in good company among my other high end headphones, though!

Calyx M to Bakoon HDA5230 to AKG k340
Incredible vintage headphone with hybrid driver, giving performances matching today’s TOTL headphone with big soundstage that rivals opennack headphones.

The dynamic and musicality of the Calyx match well with the amp and the headphone.

Listening Frates by Arvo Part.

I really wasn't too sure what to expect from the Sony PHA-2A. It was never a high-power amplifier, even compared to its contemporaries, and its power output seems even more modest by modern standards. That being said, it drives them utterly effortlessly; even my brutal high volume "3-Minute Rule by the Beastie Boys" test passed without one iota of bass distortion.

Still slightly annoyed these came with a 4.4mm cable instead of a 4-pin XLR, but I can't complain too much: the original HD800 came with neither.

HiFiMan HE-X4 with Honeycomb grill mod, oval Brainwavz pads, Senn HD 650 headband pad and copper balanced cable<--Hiby RS2 DAC mode and 4.4mm balanced output (connected w/ddHiFi TC09S USB C to USB C OTG cable to V60)<--LG V60 (Tidal via UAPP).

This latest Metheny is a real treat and the best thing since One Quiet Night

I always think I enjoy music just a bit more, kind of get lost in it, detail-wise, with this R2R DAC, I don't know, maybe I do. With these HiFiMans the volume has to be at 50-70+ which is adequately loud. The LG V60 is such a beast as, well, anything you want it to be--small tablet, music player, phone, it boots up in a flash and is just ready to go. As a head unit for a DAC using UAPP no problemo, and is my fastest Android gadget by a wide margin. Strangely, these HE-X4's have become my daily driver, just a nice flat FR but nice, clean bass when called upon. And you can get 'em for $99.00USD!

After spending hours earlier just playing around with EQ on my Tanchjim Zero, where I settled on EQing it to the FR of the 64 Audio Nio as that's still been my favourite after trying about 10-15 different FRs, including harman etc...

..I'm now back to my K702 again. Found another FR I enjoy with it, which is that of the Meze Empyrean - but for now I'm back to listening to it without EQ.

I know a lot of people have mentioned how good piano sounds on the 702, but for me it's guitar played close to the mic like in the Sara K song, that I fall in love with in every song I hear on these.
