Schiit Modius (AKM) DAC
Schiit/NITSCH Piety amp
HarmonicDyne Zeus headphone
I feel like this is just about as close as it gets to that smooth, rich, tube euphonia without actually having tubes in the signal path. Just a wonderful synergy happening here. And about the headphone in particular, I 100% see where people are coming from when the say the Zeus is like a Senn HD600 that's sensitive enough to sound great out of anything. Both this amp and this headphone don't get enough love, and they go together extremely well.

AKG K712 Pro, powered by Schiit Asgard III, fed by Schiit bifrost multibit, with some added sub bass using Schiit Loki. Source is USB cable to my pc library of flac files, about half are movie scores/soundtracks, 1/4 classical, and 1/4 all other. The wide and deep soundstage, instrument detail and separation, and overall clarity I'm experiencing with this setup put a smile on my face.

Side-note but today I was playing around EQing the upper midrange forwardness that was bothering me with my new Tanchjim Zero, and a strange thing happened. After getting rid of the problem with EQ, and then testing with and without EQ a bit.. my ears stopped noticing it, and now without EQ it sounds fine to my ears. It's like my ears got confused by me switching back and forth over and over, and attenuated the difference themselves.

I had been expecting the little dot to be great with the hd 600's, but with the grados too? I'm shocked, pleasantly so.
Mingus, of course...

I'm glad that the Grado's on the Little Dot exceeded your expectations!!! ......... What were your expectations and how, socially, did the reality differ?? I for one am interested to know the rest of the story!Rs2e<little dot mk4<mojo2<fiio m11

Well, I have read various opinions about using low impedance hps with otl amps. So I was wary. All opinions I read were that the hd600's would sound great, and they do.I'm glad that the Grado's on the Little Dot exceeded your expectations!!! ......... On both hps, the sound is certainly more relaxed, probably at the cost of a little detail.
You know when you watch a great tennis player (Federer) or quarterback they always seem to have more time when pressured. They can appear relaxed and even languid? Well that's what I'm hearing. Possibly all in my head, but the glow is nice
Ps listened to a few tracks with the lcdx & I'm not getting much of anything there.

The LCD-X impedance is only 20 ohms. The only OTL tube h/p/a that give excellent sound, to me, with LCD-X are: LTA MZ3 and Schiit Valhalla 2 - which have 2.0 ohm and 3.5 ohm (V2 low gain) output impedances.Well, I have read various opinions about using low impedance hps with otl amps. I love how the lcdx sounds just through the mojo2, so not planning to buy any more amps ....yet.

Privateering (2012) b Mark Knopfler - I started playing and abandoned at least half a dozen albums from all sorts of genres as I just wasn't feeling it, then I got to this album and all was right with the world. I love the mix of music, from soft folk to rock'n'roll, they are all unmistakeably Mark Knopfler, his style is just so unique. Only got time for a few songs and then I have to head for bed but there's always (hopefully) tomorrow.
