To The Stars by Resistor - Awesome foursome out of Providence, Rhode Island who got their name due to three of them being electrical engineers and fourth one is an electrician. Musically they are something of an oddity but in a good way: They are a guitar based crossover prog-rock band, no keyboards involved whatsoever, which is rare in this genre. The vocals are quite reminiscent of Van der Graaf Generator and the dual guitar sound has quite a 70's vibe to it, so although they are current they have something of a vintage sound. Something else that makes them unusual is that when they record, they record as a band, all in one room playing together, which is pretty unheard of in the days of digital. Favourite track is The Boy With His Brain Out In Space, 13 minutes of weird awesomeness.
I didn't intend playing this album, I was just looking for something guitar based to play through my Grados but I clicked on this and a whole album has just raced by - I will be giving their albums a good listen tomorrow.

First ever post here with a picture, lol. Tonight I’m making sweet sounds with the ifi Neo iDSD which sounds nice to my ears, as well as the Clear OG (on my messy desk that I promised my wife I’d clean today). Btw, the cable is my newly arrived Forza Noir Hybrid HPC that’s superb for the Clears.

FAW Noir Hybrid is fantastic cable! Great on LCD-X, Clear OG, ZMFs …

Finally listening to the Truthear Hola I got 2 days ago. Thoroughly impressed pairing them with a Fiio K7. Very very worth $19. Even worth $50. I wanted to see how good cheap IEMs had gotten. Apparently really really good.

I didn't know you had two LPs! Too many good tubes and not enough time if you had to roll them through a single amp or what? How do you like using 12AU7/12AX7 family tubes in then instead of the 6922s? Are you just doing it for more tube rolling options or does that family in particular offer you performance, sonic or otherwise, that the 6DJ8/6922 family can't match?

The 12AU7/ECC82 tubes can and often do have structural / sonic advantages over 6DJ8/6922 tubes. E.g. ‘long plates’ (17mm), triple mica. Also, the gain is 20x versus 32x: more signal ‘headroom’ within the LP circuit. Also, I can leave the adapters in one LP while not using adapters in the other LP. [Removing stubborn adapters from LP is a b###h !]

Cool! I have a pair of 6922 to 12AU7/12AX7 adapters on order and a couple paira of tubes to try that my buddy gave me. I was primarily interested in the gain reduction, but it's nice to know there are other advantages. I won't get to try them until I'm home in June, but I'm looking forward to experimenting.

To keep this all topical I'm currently listening to my DCA Stealths driven by the GS-X Mini with the Gustard R26 decoding all the bits and pieces from my laptop.

The other day I picked up the Stick Men anthology entitled Supercollider off of their Bandcamp page. It covers the 2010 to 2014 timeframe which includes a lot of good stuff. Nude Ascending Staircase is a standout track for me. At 136 minutes long there's plenty here to get lost in. If you're a fan if Stick Men, this is a great pick up.
