Some groundbreaking electronic jazz/funk from 1976

Some unexpected classic jazz that is reminiscent of Herbie Hancock's Maiden Voyage. First time I have heard this album, very impressed!

** and the trio format is ideal for that. On Live Evil, with a larger Miles Davis-led ensemble Jack DeJohnette’s contributions are there - but a lot more is going on around him. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No doubt. DeJohnette is one of those drummers that's perfectly happy, and equally brilliant, sitting back and fostering all the musical happenings going on around him, providing the foundation and driving the dynamics. He's about as good as they get. I've seen Jack play live twice in my life and both times are amongst the musical highlights of my life.

Lcd-X 2021, no eq, Fiio M11

Difficult to play through my speakers, for obvious reasons, but a classic that is musical, despite the sparsity of instruments and still relevant.

Hugely influential, rightly so. About as close as I will come to enjoying beat poetry.

...so this is where Chris Rock got all his material from

On a duet basis, here is a fascinating, stirring album.

[ECM: recorded May, 1971; released January, 1973.] Keith Jarrett plays flute, piano (electric), other instruments; Jack DeJohnette …. well 😀.

Lateralus by Tool - Such a heavy, hard hitting album, it really takes progressive metal to another level. First time I took notice of Tool was when I saw the incredible video for Schism on the Kerrang channel back when it was first released. The video can't fail to make an impression and I've been a big fan of the band ever since - Schism is still my favourite track on the album and that's unlikely to change. It had to be the Grados for this album, I've no interest in subtleties, I want to be pummelled into insensibility and the title track is currently doing exactly that. :L3000:

Many have observed that, among his many strengths, Miles’ greatest may have been his ability to surround himself with the Best musicians. John McLaughlin and Joe Zawinul joined the band shortly after those guys. Just an amazing magnet for talent.
I read he also got a lot of flak for working with musicians that were not the right color, like Bill Evans.

Can't we...can't we all just get along?

This is the debut album from some very talented musicians from York, Pennsylvania.
Live's Mental Jewelry definitely has a sound all of it's own. The drummer (Chad Gracey) plays with excellent dynamics. 🤗

Then again, there was a Frank Sinatra who told management at the Sands to put up the Basie band or he wouldn’t perform (1966).

[Warner Brothers / Reprise: August, 1966.] Truly an electric atmosphere, exciting performances. Wonderful you-are-there sound! This recording belongs in any music lover’s collection - physical or virtual. ☑️

Do you think that Miles Davis cared about ‘flak’? 🎺 🎼 🖕

Beside your amplifiers tower, there is room for a Jada's friend, at the height of your cheek :kissing:
