After messing around for a few hours, I realized that my currently unused Gustard H16 would work as a preamp in my main system. I had been eyeing the Gustard P-26 preamp on 11/11 sale 15% off at shenzhen audio via Amazon. But dinna purchase in time.

Listening tonight on my two channel main system

Klipsch RF-82 < 200 watt VTV Amp based on hypex Ncore NC252MP << Gustard X16 Dac using balanced outputs being fed balanced inputs from < Gustard H16 in preamp mode < getting rca input from Audio Technica manual turntable with phono stage model AT-LPW4OWN with included AT-VM 95e cartridge

I purchased this new 2 1/2 years ago. It is my first belt drive turntable and mainly bought it due to it having built in phono stage. I see it is now $110 more expensive on Amazon. I have better technics and ath direct drive turntables gathering dust and several nice ortifon cartridges like 30 years old. This basic system seems ok but I do need to get better acoustic isolation.

Listening tonight to recent used purchase from France. This is on Czech Supraphon label circa 1970.

Very high dynamic range recording. The analog goodness seems to seep through the Gustard chifi electronics and through the Class D amp.

Sitting on sofa and having volume control on H16 via Gustard little remote is awesome.

I think this is stop gap for now. Will see if any of my dusty CD players have coax or optical output to connect to X-16

Am still considering the Gustard P-26 preamp but am also looking at used Classe Preamps made in Canada on EBay.

Spinning some more vinyl early this morning

I followed Scherazade with a double lp of one of my favorite jazz artists

The Jacques Loussier Trio.

I got this album used a few years ago from EIL.com in England

It is a French pressing on the Decca label

Very nice sound quality and image staging.

The first 2 sides were live in concert but they really attenuated the crowd noise.

I believe the recordings are from 1967 & 1970

My copy is mint. I have not seen this double album on cd or in any streaming service

Trio Jacque Loussier “Collection Blanche”

He certainly did, although I didn’t know he had been unfairly criticized for it. I’m personally grateful to him for, among other things, introducing the world to SRV on Let’s Dance.
This just popped up on a certain website, which will not be mentioned...
Thought of your comment. Have you heard (of) it?
Looks like a bootleg, not sure if available for legal streaming

I have not heard of it and I agree - it looks like a bootleg of some kind. But if it’s a live performance featuring Bowie with SRV on guitar, I’m certainly going to seek it out. Thanks!

Come on, we knew Stevie Ray before Bowie ever did

Some of you guys live too far west!

Superb guitar playing, and a clear voice with lots of emotions bubbling under the surface. Quebecois who does classics in a timeless, deep and intimate way.

HD-600 on the BHCs.

Lol! Or not West enough - maybe if I had lived in Dallas, Texas instead of New York City….

Download is flac, first few sound like sound checks / outtakes...no crowd noise.

Its on youtube too. obviously not flac, but given its a bootleg, probably won't matter

more info : "Soundcheck from the rehearsals for the Serious Moonlight tour. Only known recording with Stevie Ray Vaughan before he left.
The story goes that after Bowie saw Stevie perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982 he asked him to join his band and tour in support of his
new album “Serious Moonlight” after a few rehearsals Stevie decided to skip joining Bowies band so this is all we get to hear. It would have been amazing."

The first Floyd LP with Gilmour. Moving away from the psychedelic folk of "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn". Even though Barrett is on it, he left before the release of "Saucerful of Secrets", which is Waters and Gilmours primarily. "Jugband Blues" is Barretts but was recorded early on during the 51 week span it took to record SoS. Three other Barrett songs got tossed and Jugband was rejected as a B side single by the band. I think it's underrated by critics that were expecting another Piper. IMO it's the best Floyd LP until "Meddle". Nick Mason says it's his favorite Floyd LP.
