HE1000V2, new album from Apocaliptica, perfect phones for this mix of classic and metal.

Here a fantastic piece to try the bass on any headphones or iems.
The organ bass sound is not easy to reproduce for many headphones. This sounds really amazing on the Denon AH-D7200 with their superb bass. With my Evos the overal sound is softer, bass can be noticed but not as pronounced and the result is pretty good.
Qobuz web player- pc- Sony Nwa.55L with Mr Walksman´s firmware- Etymotic Evo

Senn HD-6XX w/CNC Copper Mass Loading, balanced 4.4mm<--Brooklyn Bridge Local FLAC Shanling native player M6 Pro 21.
My all time favorite album of Carla Bley's and one of her most accessible. Steve Swallow's picked acoustic bass lead voice along with Carla's Leslie-ed Hammond B-3, not to mention Larry Willis's amazing piano solo, just as good as it gets. The Custom Cans mass loading really gives the 6XX that little bit of extra low end grunt that give them a wider ability on more types of music.

I'll take the "assist" on that one.
Guys, I had some great moments on a recent flight to Asia. On takeoff I was rockin' out to Crusader's Images album, it was amazing. By the end of the flight I was halfway through Disc 1 of Quadrophenia. Man oh man! It's good to be an audiophile

Senn 6XX w/CNC mod<--Tidal App<--Shanling M6 Pro 21
This is a perfect example of the CNC mods ability to widen the 6XX's palette.
Before the mod I wouldn't have thought of the 6XX's for this and would have picked a planar or maybe the SIVGA 021's for their spectacular bass. Now the Senns hold their own with this jazzy, electronic R&B that has lots of detail, soundstage and low-end. By the way, fantastic record and gives your cans a nice workout!

Breakin' out the AKG budget warriors today: AKG M220 (modded) into my ifi Gryphon being fed bit-perfect audio magic from UAPP/my phone in the form of a realease by Pianos Become The Teeth entitled Wait For Love.
The M220s with some shallow velours pads and some dampening changes become a pretty damn good headphone for very little money. The bass becomes punchy and articulate. The mids warm up and have good detail and separation. The treble is laid back, but extends high enough to give detail and some shimmer and the mods even out some of the peaks that can cause graininess in their stock form. I think they're still a good deal for the price in their stock config if you're looking for a referencey studio/mixing headphone, but with a little bit of time and a new set of pads they become a truly fun budget mid-fi set that definitely punches above their price tag.
I keep them around specifically because I have revised the dampening mods to them over and over again to the point that these M220s fit me like a glove and putting them on for a chill sesh feels kinda like putting on your comfy pyjamas at the end of a long, hard day. So overlooked and underappreciated as a headphone and as a modding platform, IMO

I always find DCD's music very evocative and captivating.
Fully agreed. "Indus" is my medicine when I'm after mood:

You inspired me to do a run of MMEB starting with this album, now listening to Angel StationJRiver MC (PC) > SMSL SU9 > SMSL SH9 > Beyerdynamic DT1990 pro
Solar Fire by Manfred Mann's Earth Band - They took an obscure, short Bob Dylan song (Father of Night) and turned it into a 10 minute prog-rock masterpiece, Father of Day, Father of Night, it was rarely off my turntable in 1973 and it wasn't short of competition. I think Mick Rodgers' guitar solo was probably longer than the original song! Sounds as great now as it did way back then, only problem I have now is letting my player continue on to the next track![]()
This is on the Stax 404 from a Koss E/90 from the Adcom GDA600 from Topping D10
