Beautiful weather outside today. Getting some Styx in old school style, before I have to go out and pick them up in the yard. 😏

There's no wrong or bad Bach. But this work is pretty unique in its unusual instrumental combination. At least to me, cello, mandolin, and double bass, at face value, are hard to imagine to get along well. Nonetheless these three virtuosos came up with a wonderful interpretation. The result was extremely pleasing with each clear voice and real independence in the lines. The blend really worked.

I like the R10 replica's presentation in reproducing each instrument. Double bass was moderately tight, mandolin's texture was convincing, and cello was effortless yet colorful. A nice soundstage, too. The replica might not achieve the top notch delicacy or transparency compared to my totl orthos tho.

There are some excellent recordings on the Year of the Cat. AL Stewart has a very unique style. There's a lot going on . Very well written and produced.

FWIW, the best version I've heard of this classic album is the MoFi vinyl. Really took it to another level for me.

This CD sounds downright pretty via the Hifiman HE-1000V2; a perfect blend of clarity with the natural timbre/musicality that the instruments demand.

Listening to a new pair of absolutely amazing earbuds I got, the Cypherus Audio ZoomFred Pro, plugged into my Cayin N8ii listening to Greta Van Fleet's album The Battle at Garden's Gate. This band is so fun to listen to! It's almost like someone took Led Zeppelin, dropped them into a modern recording studio, and told them to go nuts. You can definitely hear where they take their musical cues and inspiration from, but you can also hear that they are unmistakably talented musicians in their own right. Having seen them live at a festival my band played I can also say that they are a great live act and they pull off their studio sound quite well live. Unfortunately, with the state of auto-tuning mediocre vocalists into stardom, I was half expecting to hear some terrible vocal caterwauling from their lead, but I was not just surprised, I was very impressed with his ability to pull off the delivery you hear on their records live. If you want a fun listen, throw this record on and enjoy!

The ZoomFred Pros are a masterpiece of earbud making by Herry at Cypherus Audio. They sit up their amongst the best I have ever heard. If you're interested in hearing an earbud that can compete with the presentation of a good over ear I recommend you give these a listen. A truly impressive bit of design and tuning indeed. Very dynamic, quite detailed, and a surprisingly large aoundstage to boot! What's not to love?
