Stax Sigma pro driven by a Cary Rocket 88 through a Stax SRD-7 Pro. Source Peachtree iDac.
That's an interesting point! I'd argue it still lacks technical skill, but you might be on to something.

The DT880-600 is not the ultimate in resolution but it is very natural sounding if driven properly. With the combination of low sensitivity (95.6 dB/mw) and high impedance (600 ohms), equaling 97.8 dB/V which is well below headphone median, my guess is that the ‘600’ has not been fully heard by many. That's an interesting point! That makes sense and is something I'd agree with. Source gear is a big factor in bringing out the best in headphones and that makes the 880 a lot more expensive if you really want to get the most performance out of them. The DT880-600 is not the ultimate in resolution but it is very natural sounding if driven properly. The DT880-600 with the crack tube amp was one my favorite combos. I really regret selling that setup...The DT880-600 is not the ultimate in resolution but it is very natural sounding if driven properly. Ton / tonne is definitely the right metric…Spending all of Saturday listening to my T60 Argons. Just going through the collection alphabetically, but entering into a ton of Seether right now.
