Deep Purple by Deep Purple - Their third and final album with the original line up. It's quite astonishing how different the follow up was, Deep Purple in Rock, it really does sound like a different band. This album is definitely an album of the 60's and is much more subdued than In Rock. I would say that Jon Lord had a lot more influence than Ritchie Blackmore, unlike In Rock where Ritchie really comes to the fore front. Still, it's an album I've always liked, specially the opening track, Chasing Shadows.

The Jane Seymour track needs high volume to do it justice. It does start quietly and has great dynamic range

The female vocal on moonlight shadow is enchanting

Hard to pick a favorite of the first seven moody blues albums, but this one is in the top 3 for me

AKG K812 Pro plugged into my Ferrum Oor/Hypsos stack with the Gustard X26 decoding all the hi-res bits from my laptop/Qobuz. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the K812 Pros are an underappreciated pair of headphones. They're a fantastic tool for really actively listening to tracks and they have an amazing ability to incisively display whatever information the listener decides to focus on or look for in a given track/recording.

This evening I'm listening to Steve Hackett's 2019 effort, At the Edge of Light. This album has a little bit of everything on it. From a saxophone carrying a rather ominous late-track melody to dueling keyboards and guitars to funky basslines, the album is a fun mix of different textures and structures that makes for some fun exploring. Hackett's solo albums don't always strike gold for me, but At the Edge of Light is one of his better ones for sure.

Thanks for the tip! Listening right now. Great recording sound wise, and the interplay between the players is noticeable (even for a newbie like me) and fun!!

Ron Carter is also an audiophile. I wish I could remember where I saw the article (The Absolute Sound?) but they showed his setup.

I'm not sure whether or not this in it. Regardless, great interview.....

Thanks, I have not seen that! I'll watch it when I have time.

No, the article I'm thinking of was in a magazine, and they had an interview and he talked about his hifi gear and they showed pics of it. If I recall, he is into vinyl.
