For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Still on the Focal Elex, but now I have them plugged into Ferrum Oor/Hypsos with the Gustard X26 pulling DAC duties and being fed some lovely bit-perfect, hi-res locally stored files from my laptop. I wanted yo switch to a source with less warmth so I could hear what kind of a difference it makes to the mids as I felt that with the Burson w/ the warmest of their op amps installed the warmth was holding them back a bit.

Taking another rec from @Davidzak64 I went on Bandcamp yesterday and ordered Smalltape's album entitled The Ocean in CD form and digital download. This album was originally a but further down in my queue, but I moved it up at the behest of Dz. I have only ever listened to one album from Smalltape before entitled Circles, which I believe was also a result of a general rec once again from Dz (I'm not positive about that though). I'm excited to see what's in store on this gem that earned it a solid rec as a good album pairing for the Elex so, without further ado, here goes nothin'!

You try the same albums as @Davidzak64 and you are worried because you can't feel the same experience... You wonder why? No Jada to save! :relieved:

More Jimmy Lyon magic on his guitar. 👍 Groundbreaking stuff here.
Who doesn't like the lead on Two Tickets to Paradise 🤔
Sticking with some Hp's from that era.
This whole album hits a soft spot with some fine memories from better times.

Pioneer Monitor 10 < Luxman R-113 < Loxjie D30 < Amazon Music HD.

Jada probably chucked ‘5150’ in. What short memories here. Re-read post #8,359 above !!
Short term memory loss. What would cause this. 🤔

Still working on finding the best chain with the Focal Elex so now I'm going with the Ferrum Oor/Hypsos stack for the amp duties and the RME ADI-2 on the DAC side of things being fed bit-perfect, hi-res files from the local storage on my laptop.

For the next album on the Elex I'm going with a great album from one of the best indie rock bands going these days, Because Of The Times the 2007 effort from Kings Of Leon. Sometimes to find out just how good a headphone is you have to stop analyzing all its technical abilities and playing "test tracks/albums/playlists" and just throw on a favorite that you know like the back of your hand and see how well said headphone transports you to the emotional space that makes that album a favorite to begin with.

Because Of The Times, aside from being a great album made up of some of my favorite tracks by KOL, has some very personal and very deep memories and feelings attached to it so when I listen to this album a transducer that does it justice allows me to get swept up in the emotional recall that the music brings up. Without critically listening, flaws or shortcomings become exposed by the limitations they impose on the experience itself, if that makes sense. I'm looking forward to seeing well how the Elex pull this album off. For anyone interested, this is definitely a highly recommended listen from your's truly.

Edit: Wrong album art the first time around.
