For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Took my sister’s dog Luna for a walk with some space rock in my ears. I used to listen to this album quite frequently when it came out - oftentimes slightly lofty-headed by space tobacco - feeling like I was being slingshot out into the solar system.
Today was different but then again I almost felt high by the third track😆 I’ve listened to a lot of space rock - own a boatload of it, and well some times they tend to mush together into one large bubbly sonic brew.
These Swedish cats though have a certain something about them…like they were touched by a Scandinavian guru. The music is quite freeform and wavering - building upon itself these huge structures of guitar feedback - all to the backbone of recurring circular notions coming from the rhythm section. It’s large like mountains, solar, vivid and slowly slowly revealing itself in front of your ears.

Rocking to the morning work session today, Rory Gallagher with the Top Priority album.
Been surfing my FLAC collection over the past few days, and it has reminded me how much I miss actually listening to CD's. Need to get a compact solution that I can have at my desk and listening chair. My "HiFi" players are way too big to have close to me, and therefore I end up not using them as much as I want to.

Anyway, listening on the Violectric stack and the Fiio FT1, again.

Shanling makes some small desktop CDs - Shanling MCD1.3 - Multifunctional CD Player. There's also Teac. I'm sure there are others as well. It's Just a matter of what you want and want to spend. I have a full-sized Teac, but I've plenty of desk space with an L-Shaped desk for my setup....

An album that requires not introduction, always benefits from a tube amp IMHO :)

M-Scaler > TT2 > McIntosh MHA200 > Focal Stellia

A sublime listening session :)
One of my favorite Miles albums. Everything on it is great, but my favs are Blue in Green, and especially Flamenco Sketches, absolutely love that tune. Also, the alternate take of it on the Legacy release of that album.

Yes, I just need to make a decision. Size matters this time, as I already have 2 full size players, but because of their size, I don't get them used enough. Had not seen the small 3 series Teac, that's pretty interesting. It it was a top loader, it would have been perfect 🙂

@Skev How are you liking the Shanling so far?

On topic, I'm testing the Primare SC15MKII as a streamer, feeding the RME ADI-2 and then into the Xduoo TA-26 which is running the Sennheiser HD600.

Listening to Bonny Light Horseman's album Keep Me on Your Mind, great relaxing music to round off the day 👌

The SC15 is not Roon certified yet, which is its biggest drawback, but otherwise it's a cool device.

Yeah it’s, in a word, solid! You can tell there’s power behind it, just seems to deliver with ease. Incredibly revealing and detailed. It does make the Fiio K11 R2R sound a bit wooly/muddy to be fair, and also makes the R2R sound a lot less dynamic (i.e. limited range between quieter and louder parts).

Software/hardware buttons could be better implemented IMO. I wish I could use the menu system whilst in Airplay. Wish I could use the skip/play/pause buttons when in USB DAC mode. Also when stacked with the ET3 on top you can’t access the “back” button which means you can’t exit the menu. More thought was required but hey-ho!

Sounds wise though, yeah! Audivinas sound great on it and the IE900 really open up & shine!

Thanks a lot for the input 🙏
How about the CR60, you like that as well?

@Lindholdt if you are looking for transport only in a compact form, I'd check out Nuprime CDT line. The only drawback is mine got broken down after around 3 years and I'll be send it for a service. The reason I've bought it was upsampling feature and it played perfectly well with Rockna WaveLight.

Chilling to a slightly underappreciated part of Vangelis’ oevre; the part before he went full-on electronic and still had loads of acoustic elements in his music. I really dig this album. Still very much Vangelis with those suave elegant chords, melodic segments and his unique almost magical touches that is all over his career. You can actually hear small snippets of what he would later evolve over the classic Blade Runner soundtrack.
Recommended to folks who want a companion for a foggy morning strolling through the forest.
Still on the original Zero
