Great job, thanks!

I just wish you used some of the classic multibit DAC instead of a modern sigma-delta. There are enough available from certain models to meet the total potential sales of this player.

That would have kept the sonic signature of a CD player back from their peak times. Not a criticism by any means though, just a wish. 😃👍

$1019 for an AK4499EX DAC with USB input and high quality CD player, nice screen and some more is actually a good deal.
Ditto for sure. Shanling has a consistent track record of producing good quality gear at a most reachable cost.

Hi,

This product sure looks nice even though I am unsure how many peaople still uses CD's in these days.
I own or have owned a lot of Shanling products.
They sound superb.
All of them.

This device has streaming abilities. It says "Wifi for DNLA, AirPlay and NAS".
Not sure what is exactly meant here...

So I consider this as a nice DAC + CD Player + USB player.
Maybe it even has great headphone amp.
But I would not consider streaming (DLNA, AirpLay and NAS) abilities as the main purpose for this.

This last statement is based upon my experience with Shanling products I own(ed).
Streaming abilities has, so far, not been a priority to Shanling.
There are two options here :
1°) you're perfectly happy with Eddict software and you're good to go ;
2°) you're used to other streaming/controller software, and you'll be irritated with the "featureless" Eddict software.

But again, if streaming is not your main purpose, this will probably be a great device.
And of course, I had no opportunity to test this so I can not exclude that Shanling will get us a big surprise with streaming abilities.

Regards.

Digital Transport via USB/I2S would have been the killer app

MCD1.3 offers I2S output, with our special 10 mode system.
For USB out, you would have to look at our ET3.

question: why MCD1.3 > MQA yes, SCD1.3 > MQA no?
Hi,

Because this is the way it is :)
Go figure : the cheaper version has more features...
That feature will be added to SCD1.3... one day. If they do not forget to add it.
Or maybe that is not possible because they used hardware incompatible with MQA ?

Anyways, I thought MQA was dead as it was abandoned by it's sole real user...

question: why MCD1.3 > MQA yes, SCD1.3 > MQA no?
Due to different drives used. There are some things MQA-CD demands from the CD Drive processing, so it can't just be thrown onto any CD/DVD drive you find.

Oh, I know about the ET3. It's just why compete with yourself rather than consolidate features?

Hi,
That is the million dollar question about Shanling.
Why keep releasing a new product every month that is fulfilling no need instead of taking time to release something that fits not sound like alpha or, best case scenario, beta testing.

Hi guys,

Just to mention it : if you use Facebook and follow Shanling there, you'd be advised NOT TO POST something negative about their products.

On the three last releases, I dared to ask :
- 1°) Will your product be supported on the loing term ?
- 2°) Is it wise to release about 36 products every year ? How about supporting them and updating them when you have so much devices to manage ?

I do not think this is overly agressive. As a result, they simply excluded me from their FaceBook account.

Now my question is : how do you rate a company that to prevent negative feedback, just tries to silence you ?

Me, I have my own answer...

We welcome any good-faith conversation, no matter if positive or negative.

But we make the line at abuse and spreading misinformation.

We understand you got some Shanling products and your experience wasn't ideal on certain parts of their software side. It was discussed multiple times in multiple threads on this forum and we heard your feedback and responded to it.

Yet you continue to spread it to other Head-Fi threads of unrelated Shanling models, even if you yourself state no interest in given products.
You doing it here in MCD1.3 thread once again.

And then you decide to start posting it all once again, this time on Facebook posts of unrelated products, just with you "asking these innocent question". While spreading misinformation (calling ECMini new release, it was released 8 months ago / Making statement about 36 models per year, actually, we released 5 products so far in 5 months, one of which is earphone) and starting these discussions we already had with you over and over again, just now with a different representative team of ours. As such, you were blocked by our Social media team and it will stay like that.

If you wish to complain, you can email us at our official company at info@Shanling.com
