A bit of 90’s ambient.

Final Audio E5000 - iFi Go Bar - iPhone 15.

The E5000 are a design that is around 6 years old and are a tiny little bullet style IEM with a single DD a nat over 6mm diameter that require amount of power that seems utterly ridiculous relative to their tiny size. Regardless, they have proven to be a really enjoyable listen besting several much more expensive sets for me. A very smooth effortless listen with a timbre so natural it almost seems unnatural at first after a steady diet of much more energetic detail oriented IEM.

I bought the E5000 recently out of interest sake since they seem to have a bit of a following due to their smooth fatigue free tuning and because they have a reputation of being comically inefficient. Both have proven to be true and they were well worth buying despite being a very long way from current flavour of the week. It is crazy to see my iFi Diablo volume pot at 3pm on Eco mode or my M11 plus absolutely maxed out on high gain and still be able to listen relatively comfortably.

Pretty excited today, as I'll listen to a set of electrostats tonight (Stax SR-007mk2), which I've never tried before. I've seen/heard a lot of funny/great/surprising responses to hearing electrostats for the first time, and I am hoping for a bit of a special experience, even though it might end up costing me a small fortune if I like them 😅

Anyway, giving the HE1000's a lot of listening time today, as I have a vague hope that I'll somehow be able to remember their sounds tonight 🤣
Fiio R7 and Aune S17 Pro is delivering the signal.

Joe Satriani and his album Joe Satriani is fantastic in bot a technical and musical way, perfect for testing new stuff IMO. Heard this one 100's of times (We used some of the tracks on shows, demoing speakers at work), so I know it inside out 🎸🤘

not more than the whole chain for planars or DD.
Which has also costed (to me) a small fortune 🤣
The set I'm going to listen to is using a SRM-313 Energizer (?), and it's available for around $2k USD, second hand.

Will let you know 👍

Amazed by how much bass EQ the Sivga Nightingale can handle without complaining. The planar driver in these things is really impressive, especially considering these can be had now for less than $200 new.

After Dark (2007), Various Artists

Now a throwback to a throwback. This compilation landed square in the middle of the neo-disco, neo-synthwave of the mid '00s. Almost twenty years out from its release, I can't tell anymore if it sounds like a relic of its time or like a relic of an even earlier time. Regardless, it's a fantastic collection.
