For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Heading out for a walk with my dogs so I went with just the basics: Shozy Magmas running off a Qudelix5k. This is pretty much as simple as it gets for me, but it sounds pretty damn good. We're spoiled for choice and performance these days.

On deck in the queue is a 2013 release from Anders Bjorler entitled Antikythera. This one's a solid instrumental prog/metal-prog album defined by thunderous sounding drums, dry cymbal accents, pensive and wandering guitar, and cameos from instruments you don't often hear on an album like this such as the tenor sax highlighted on the fourth track, Uncovering the Mechanism. This is a great album for wandering the tracks and trails in the hills behind my neighborhood. Highly rec'd! 🤘😎

Movin' On (2024) by Dan Patlansky - Released on Friday, this is blues rock in the vein of Stevie Ray Vaughan but this time from a South African guitar wizard. His ridiculously beat up Stratocasters look like they've done a few rounds with Rory Gallagher but he really knows how to make them sing. On the topic of singing, he has a very tuneful voice too, add that to great song writing skills and you have the complete package, which is why I've been following him for years. Gone with the Schiit stack for the smooth, natural sound and the HD650's bring out the vocals and do nice things with the guitar too - all sounding rather good to my ears

Evian Christ - Revanchist

Finally getting to this album that released late last year. Really hard hitting, bordering on violent deconstructed Trance with hidden layers of beauty, and hints of hip hop/club music and hyperpop. He's produced for artists like Travis Scott, Kanye, Tinashe, etc, but this is... quite different. Awesome debut album.

Impressive album! I've known Anders mainly from his work with The Haunted and At the Gates, but this solo project is a pleasant surprise. Loving the discussion in this thread. Have a great day!

His solo stuff is top notch. I have to admit, I didn't know he had a solo project until I stumbled upon it on Qobuz entirely by accident when one of his tracks came up during the random tracks after an album I was listening to.

Have a good one! 👍😎

This morning, I'm taking a break from my comparative listening and more technical headphones in general, retreating into lush musicality. Currently, I've got my ZMF Atriums running off the Liquid Platinum with the Soekris 2541 DAC decoding the coax out from a Wiim Pro. I'm out in my shop doing some work upgrading some components in the Bottlehead Crack I bought and I'm hoping to be able to give it a whirl with the Atriums this afternoon/evening.

For my music selection, I've got a 2013 album from Stereophonics entitled Graffiti on the Train. Just some laid back contemporary alternative that happens to sound fantastic through the Atriums. I've spent the last few days listening to a bunch of intense music, through intense and technical headphones, and comparing things back and forth. I needed a break so I completely switched up the transducers and the musical genre choice and I'm loving it. 🤘😎
