For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Now I'm waiting at JFK to catch my connecting flight to LAX so the listening continues. I went ahead and switched over to the Campfire Supermoons CIEMs, but I'm still running them off of my Cayin N8ii.

Up now in the queue is a 2022 release from Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side entitled Miles From Nowhere. This is definitely one of my favorite neo-prog albums of the last few years. Solid all around musicianship, high production quality, and great songwriting that's accessible and technically sound without getting too heady. You can definitely here the influence from The Flower Kings coming through. The vocals/lyrics, which sometimes come off as an afterthought in this genre, are a strong point for this record. Two thumbs up, from your's truly! 👍👍

P.S. For the record, JFK is the complete opposite of Schiphol. Everytime I fly through here things take an insane amount of time whether it's packed or during a lull and I always see employees dickin' around doing nothing. Those that actually are working often don't know basic info. It doesn't inspire confidence when I have to be the ones to explain how especially registered cargo transfers work so I can make sure my travel cases make it to the next plane. 🤦‍♂️🤣

About to sit and have a solid listen to the
(new) open back Sony MDR-MV1.

Listened briefly a coupie of times
last week and so far I like them
a lot. But need some more time with them to be certain. Will listen to something well recorded that I know
well, like The Wall.
do you have a headphone you can compare it to, or that it reminds you of? Did you enjoy it? was curious about this one

The Likes Of Us (2024) by Big Big Train - Happy release day! New album with a new singer and I LOVE IT!!! I've been listening to it now for the last four hours and it just keeps getting better. The new vocalist, Alberto Bravin (ex. PFM) sounds quite different to the late David Longdon (RIP) and it seems to me that the new guy has given the band a bit more energy and they are sounding better than ever. So far 2024 has given up some incredible releases and this one is right up there with the best.
I went with the SMSL stack and the RS-1x for maximum detail retrieval and the tone is pretty sweet too.

Just saw that the Focal Elex have dropped in price again. Now going for the price of an HD 600. No contest to my ears.

Focal Elex < Singxer SA-1 < Mojo 2 < PC (Roon)

async - immersion (2023 remaster), Ryuchi Sakamoto. Sakamoto has already seen a handful of posthumous releases since his death early last year. The "immersion" remaster of async is a spatial audio version of his 2017 piece produced for a 3D installation. Ordinarily I dismiss spatial audio as an unnecessary gimmick, but in this case, it actually suits the piece perfectly. It's also a fun way to test the soundstaging abilities of your rig. I could have sworn I heard someone playing a piano in the next room...

Speaking of Ryuchi Sakamoto: His first band - Yellow Magic Orchestra had a massive influence on electronic pop, and morphed into various genres - like art rock, experimental, Club/Dance. The first recording I heard was Technodelic from late '81.

Then Sakamoto accelerated his solo career, with really great soundtracks (accessible - good place to start) such as "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence", "The Last Emperor", "Sheltering Sky". He did ambient, classical, international fusion. Ground breaker. Worth exploring.

On the HD-600 and my mini monitors
