And to follow up on my previous post, I'm now running the DT 990's on the TA-26. Even though these are 32 Ohms, the result is significantly better than using the HEKS. I guess it's down to these being dynamic driver instead of planar's?
So far, this is my favorite combination with the TA-26, the HD650's gets too " thick" whereas the 990's very much need more warmth.
Tidal to Wiim Mini to SMSL to XDUOO TA-26 to DT 990.
RTF 1st LP - 52 years ago, fist exposure to Stanley, Flora, Airto for me. Something about the mix of melody, simplicity, and youthful joy in the music - timeless. Only drawback is the recording hiss.

DT-990 3 db more efficient on paper, it's not a big amp output wise, plus 990's have an overly hefty mibass which is still there if under powered and an under powered HEK of any version sounds bass deficient without enough power.
The start of a new week calls for a new headphone. This time it is the HD660S2. Starting off with the iFi and then moving on to the tube amps through the week.
First major snowfall of the winter. Only about 4-5 inches (8-10cm).
After short weekend T+A headphones listening session I wanted something with clarity and detail, that would not try to tell its own story too much. This task required skipping both Rockna and TT2 and I realised I haven't been listening to Mytek Brooklyn Bridge for a year at least
Tidal > Mytek Brooklyn Bridge (with digital volume control and SLRP filter) > Focal Clear MG
Mytek is brilliant dac at this price level and Focals are not screaming for more power even when used without XLR adapter contrary to some Audeze cans. While we are at Audeze Cans MM-500 are sounding really fine from Mytek, while LCD-1 really liked external amp which I find a bit amusing.
Dynamics and sound of trumpet with Rage against the machine riffs and lyrics makes this a perfect evening break after long working day
