it's a small bottle 5998 basically, some say it's solid-state sounding.
Definitely more SS sounding which I am/was not a fan of when I first tried them so they sat in storage for quite awhile until I decided to give them another try, but this time I paired them with a old German WWII tube meant for their air force, the TFK LD2 and was amazed. That pairing is easily one of my favorites, if not my favorite.

Point is, pairing is important, and if you are not a fan at first of the 7236 try cycling in some different inputs, you might be amazed!

Have it paired with an original Russian Melz 1578 (6sn7) the real 1578 has five holes punched in the sides of the plates
Here they are glowing in the dark. Sounds fabulous

I use them with my Ken-rad 6SN7 and HE-500, I think they sound a little better with planars. 5998 sounds better with my 660s2.

Tung-sols 7236 because of the solid state character does have great synergy with ZMF Atrium. I can recommend.

I finally managed to find a NIB pair of genuine Telefunken 6080. Take a look for the triple mica and double ring getter to avoid fakes.
Very underrated and scarce variant. Love the sound of these.

And the 8-digit code starting with "U" also indicates these are not fakes. That code indicates where and when the tubes were manufactured.

And I agree. These are underrated and scarce. But in the right system they shine. :)

Agreed. I think these are the best examples of the TFK 6080’s I’ve ever seen. Congrats on the amazing pair! I have a few of these in my collection but are in not-so-good shape cosmetically. I find the TFK 6080 have a very unique sound in the 6080 family that makes for some excellent synergy with the right driver tubes - very energetic. Definitely worth having a pair in the arsenal, too bad they are so hard to find, especially NOS/NIB like this.
