@ubs28 One of the drivers on mine are actually dead after around 2 weeks of use. I don't know how it happened. I have been using it an hour a day every morning, and then one night, the right driver just went hush! I would have thought the HEK which was almost a year old would give out first, based on the construction of the two, I guess not.. :disappointed:

yeah, the right driver on mine died too.

Contact your dealer. This is when they really earn you business.

Focals policy is to replace the unit. Contact your dealer ASAP and report the issue. If your dealer does not keep serial number records be sure to provide the serial to the dealer. If you bought the unit from The Source AV we have lots in stock and will happily get you fixed up ASAP

My only gripe about both the Elear and Utopia is the cable, especially on the Utopia.

I got bigfatpaulie's extra unit, which just turned a month old yesterday, although, I've only been using them in the last 2 weeks. It was still factory sealed when I got them. He already contacted the dealer though, so keeping my fingers crossed right now. Anxiety is a killer! On the bright side though, I'm really grateful that even if I didn't get it directly from the dealer, I had enough sense to get one from someone like Paul. :)

That sure sounds nice. Hope the dealer of these Utopia's would be as good.. Really hoping for the best at this point as the cost of these are no joke.

inthere wow! I was thinking all along that I should have been the only guy unfortunate enough to get a bad stock. The build quality on these things really seem top notch, you'd never think that a problem like this would arise. Turns out, my made in china stuff is faring better..

It doesn't matter what brand or where it's made so much. It's going to happen occasionally. Sorry for your inconvenience. Keep the faith brother!

I am in audophile heaven, the Utopia is the best headphone I have listened to yet. I am listen to Kate Bush's "The Whole Story" and she sounds heavenly through the Utopia. Her voice is stunningly beautiful, without being bright or sybilant. My favorite track, Babooshka sounds sublime. The mids are so detailed and revealing, yet are so smooth. The highs are detailed and engaging, without being to bright. The vocals are very natural sounding, thus Kate Bush's voice is so intoxicating to behold. I used a Onkyo CD player hooked to a Yggdrasil to a Cavalli Liquid Gold.

That's a dream set-up! Congrats and enjoy. I'm a big Kate Bush fan btw.

I'm going to enjoy my Utopia (pun intended

) in a couple of weeks (hopefully earlier), I'll be using them with a 300B SE amplifier.

What's the general consensus about the stock cable? apart from the very long size (I don't really need 4mt, but I can live with it), is it good enough? I'm currently usng a FAW full copper on my HEK, and it is a giant step forward wrt the HFM stock cable, anyone using a FAW with the Utopia?

stock cables are quite good as it is other than the length. However there is still a bit more to squeeze out of the utopia.make sure you are able to try the cables you buy them. I recently tried one that actually made the utopia sound terrible.
