Aside from Empyrean's sound signature not being my personal preference I would also add that I wouldn't expect the technicalities of the Empyrean to live up to the Utopia. That was probably my biggest gripe with it, I didn't feel it was worth the asking price for that reason alone (detail retrieval just wasn't $3k levels for me).
likewise. having auditioned the empyrean once, i've had no interest in trying it again.

I like to put the two headphones like this: The Utopias put you on stage amongst the performers with pinpoint accuracy and the intimacy that position brings. The Empyreans put you in the audience about row 3 or 4 but still with pinpoint placement of the instruments.

Had I not already owned the Utopias and enjoyed the "on-stage" presentation, the Empyreans would have been on my short-short list for purchase candidates.

a new abyss tc that is less unwieldy would be....... unlikely
This would be called the Abyss C. And it's likely to have better bass and staging still than the Utopia.

and it's likely that your 'abyss c' would be just as unwieldy as the previous iterations
I, for one, can only hope so. 1597450347302.png

Nah, it’ll likely be a closed Diana. Which I can’t wait to have :L3000:

Lazuli Reference FC is on order. My stock cable was getting beat up and I wanted to replace it with equal or better. The LR seemed to get the most love of the upgrade cables. I have Moon Silver Dragon, CustomCans and a repurposed HD800s cable but always reverted to the stock. Build time was quoted at approximately 3 weeks. I liked the build look with the Utopia. Anticipation...

Would you not have tried the Black Dragon?

Moon cables are top notch and I have many of their interconnects, iem cables and the Silver Dragon Utopia cable. To be honest I really like the build of the LR and it has received the most positive reviews I have seen. The Black Dragon has a good review also. I have a Black Dragon extension cable and it is just too utilitarian in look for the Utopia in my opinion.

HOLY Macaroni, cables are where the BIG $$$ is!!!!!!!!!! There is a Dana hp cable for 4$K :money_mouth:

I say this as a owner of both the WyWires Platinum and Norne Silvergarde S3 so I've spent a few $ on hp wire too! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yea the amount some cables go for are ridiculous.. And I've bought some of them. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
