Just a thought...have you tried sourcing another pair or getting a second cable to see if it's the cable that's at fault? You can also swap left and right connectors to check if the problem swaps sides. Not sure if you've already done this but sometimes it can be an easy fix. Fingers crossed.

It's been a little while since I contacted Focal, is their number on the website easy to find?
I've never been able to find it, and all email questions I sent them were never returned. I just assumed they ignored customers directly and forced customers to go through dealers.
Jason says it's all changing come Feb, so we'll see if the new distributor is more responsive, or even responsive at all.

Current Phone number for Focal America according to their site - 888.340.4403
You might also want to reach out to the VerVent Audio Group of which Focal NA is a subsidiary of. As mentioned, they are currently moving HQ from Edmonton to Plurisound based in Quebec. Oddly, when I had an issue with a Focal speaker 5-6 years ago, I dealt with Plurisound and had a very positive experience. I believe Plurisound was Focal's North American distributor/service center before Focal NA was formally established in 2015.

Haha no that won’t happen. They won’t hijack your headphones. They will fix them for you, you’ll just be charged for the repair.
I'm ok with sending them to Focal, if it's not too crazy expensive. If I can get them to respond to me!

Ahhh! I was on https://www.focal.com/us , which only has an email forum that probably goes to /dev/null.
Looks like Focal America is all about car products.

Hahahahaha they are a major player in car stereo but that site is a distributor named Orca.
FocalNA still exists it’s just in a new location and managed by the best of the NA Focal distributors. So you can count on better responsiveness and services. All of us that have done business with the new management team for years are really happy and welcome this change big time. They expect to be in full swing by Feb 1st.

I’m not 100% sure but I believe there have been some cost adjustments made making the repairs cost less.
Someone gave you a recommendation which was to swap the left and right ear cup connections to eliminate the cable as the issue. If you’ve done that and the bad side didn’t change it is time to get in touch with FocalNA to determine the cost and practicality of repair.
I hope it works out for you. Good luck

It is, but they can get you in touch with the right people, or at least they used to.
I'm optimistic about the new service organization. My experiences with Plurison have been very good.

I've already tried switching connectors. No help unfortunately. One thing I noticed when I got them was a lot of distortion when turned up loud (I like to jam out). It sounded ok till a certain volume, iirc, then had a lot of distortion. Maybe that was the speaker about to go out? Mainly when the bass hit.
Because of that, I didn't really care for them. I want to be able to crank them up sometimes. I made a deal to trade them, and the night before I shipped them off to the new owner, I gave them one last listen. And that is when the left side went out (my luck). I hate to spend a decent amount on them since their value has dropped (saw a set listed for $550 on here recently). But I get nothing if I don't! Yep, a big yucky pickle!

I decided to move on from the Utopia due to the bass distortion/crackle issue I had. Focal fixed them under warranty no problem but I was scared it would start happening again and again as so many people had reported it (more so with the elear.) Its a real shame as they are great sounding headphones. Oh well I suppose.

That $550 price was authorized priced used products from Moon Audio with a 1 year warranty. Not a bad deal really. I’m told that deal is history from now on but you never know, things can change.
Yeah it is a pickle but it’s worth asking for cost help on the repair from them. You don’t ask you don’t get I always say.
You did say something I’d like to comment on. If you’re listening to very punchy dynamic music on the Elear at very high “Jammin” levels the Elear may not be the best choice of headphones for you anyway.

Yeah I love my TH900 and LCD 3, but open to try new things. There are no hifi stores around me in NC where I live. Even charlotte is pretty dry from the online search I did. So I just have to trade for or buy nearly every thing I get.
