Focal Elegia - what do you think?

I beg for apologies in advance, because my knowledge of cable construction is next to nil, but shouldn't the connectors be TRS instead of TRRS? Or does this not really matter here? Thanks in advance for any info.

On the headphone end it should be TS (mono) or TRS (stereo - but I should imagine wired for mono in a balanced headphone?)

On the source end it should be either TRS (SE) or TRRS (Balanced)

I am in no way an expert though, this is just the basics I grasped while talking to the guys making my cables.

They should ideally be dual TS on the cups side to TRRS

And FWIW, I consider the "source" end to be the terminator, and the "cup" end to be the connector.

Beyerdynamic cable hase TRS on the on the headphone side, because third one is the ground for the shield (or so), that connects to the driver.

Most other brands have TS connection on the headphone side.

I definitely need a desktop DAC/AMP for the Focal Elegia that I can use in my bedroom. Just not sure if I should get something like Gustard X16+H16 , Cambridge DAC magic m200+Topping A90

Or a all in one Device like the Matrix Mini i3 (non pro) connected to Lan.

And I definitely need another of these Rooms headphone stands (the left one)

I’m downsizing a bit (okay, a micro-bit!), so I’ve retasked my Audio-GD and the Elegia to serve as my recliner station. Works perfectly with the Xduoo X10 TII

yeah, I’m even using the stock cable.

Also I know the SE cables for Hifiman work with the Elegia SE.... any idea if the balanced ones will blow it up?
Balanced Cable For Elegia:
I am using the Meze 4.4mm balanced cable with my new Cayin RU6 DAC/AMP and enjoying a new level of overall sound quality.

Same here. We have to talk about that DAC. It's borderline dark magic how good it sounds.

I use my tube amp as preamp and the FiiO Q3 as the last node of my audio chain. In NOS mode, the timbre of all the instruments is revealed like I have never heard before. It's the more natural sounding DAC in my collection for sure

so for the balanced output jacks both single and dual pole work? I am so confused, forget it who needs balanced :sob:
The Meze cables are TRS (single pole at the cup end). I cannnot speculate on using TRRS plugs at the cup end.

I'm wondering if a more powerful amp than the FiiO Q3 (435mW max) would bring an audible benefit to my Elegia with the Meze balanced cable.

Would something like the XDUOO XD05 BAL (1000mW) be overkill for the Elegia or would it scale?
