Hi! After a very long decision making process, I just now decided to buy the Focal Clear and not the Utopia. Decisive factors were of course price and the fact that I can reuse existing 3.5mm connector cables. I now found some rumors of a new closed headphone by Focal called Elegia (on a German website). Does anybody know anything more specific about this model and how it will compare to the clear/utopia? From its price, the product sits between the elear and clear (EUR899). Here the specs:

  • Typ: Geschlossener Kopfhörer (type: closed headphones)
  • Impedanz: 35 Ohms
  • Empfindlichkeit: 105 dB SPL / 1 mW @ 1 kHz
  • THD: 0.1 % @ 1 kHz / 100 dB SPL
  • Frequenzbereich: 5 Hz-23 kHz (frequency range)
  • Treiber: 40 mm ‚M‘-Form Aluminium/ Magnesium Membran (driver specification)
  • Gewicht: 430 g (weight)
  • Zubehör: 1.2 m asymmetrisch 3.5 mm Klinkenstecker, 3.5 mm auf 6.35 mm Stereo-Klinken-Adapter, Hartschalen-Transportcase 250 x 240 x 120 mm (accessoires)
What are you guys thinking? Holding off the clear for now?

someone posted a link to that web page in the clear thread. it's premature to expect any meaningful comments or impressions at this stage. you might have something to go on once canjam @ rmaf 2018 gets underway.

This was one of the pictures associated with it:

Whether there's any truth in it? I'd like to hope so. Although the lack of other information available on the tinternet, anywhere, is not reassuring. Unless someone in the ecom department messed up and loaded this prematurely...

Yes, otherwise

Yes, otherwise, it would have been Closaria :)
Or Clostopia. Well, the ia follows Utopia

I guess they want to express it's part of the family, and want to express the geneology with the name in some form

Utogia, or Clegia.
Maybe 'gia is their attachment for Closed. So far there are two attachment variations for their naming scheme. 'ia and 'lear, with ignoring 'lex for Massdrop.
