Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

I picked elear with the recent sale at headphones.com.

How do these pair with schiit jotunheim? I am in the process of making a balanced cable.

I've been using the Jot with my Elears for about a week and a half. I wasn't sure if it was for me at first listen. The Jot has a very forward presentation and there was so much musical information I think my brain was having trouble processing it all. The music demanded all my attention. Took a couple days to adjust. Now I'm hearing gobs of detail and I really like the punch and dynamics. Even the tape hiss in certain recording is more pronounced. Sometimes the bass does seem almost too controlled. There could be a little more decay time. So it's not a perfect pairing, but I am really enjoying it now. Before I picked this up, I was looking at amps in the $1k to $2k range. I will still probably move up to something more expensive eventually (thinking tubes), but I plan the enjoy the Jot for a while unless a killer deal pops up.

Yesterday I ordered the same thing with a 4 pin xlr. Should arrive tomorrow. I can report back if anyone is interested.

Yes please let us know.

Is there a slightly longer version of that cable? say 8ft?

Thanks for the links everyone.
I have the same issue with the Massdrop Fostex X00's. Great headphones with a ridiculous, unnecessarily heavy, unwieldy cable.
WHY!?!?

I used a silver platted OCC cable (using 8 cores of DHC Nucleotide wire) - worked beautifully with the Elear. Opened up the mids, provided more clarity, whilst retaining the terrific bass (which pure silver tended to diminish). The cable is up for sale in case anyone is interested, as I have since upgraded.

So I've got some solid hours on the elears and I'm just very pleased. The build quality, the bass, the punchy dynamics, just awesome. I'm a normal guy so I've never heard the utopia or the LCD 4 etc. I'm coming from the hd 650 and I have several totl in ears and none seem to do what the elears do. Very happy with my purchase. I put them on my girlfriend last night, she doesn't care for headphones and thinks I'm crazy. She instantly got this huge ear to ear smile on her face, and I couldn't get her to take them off, I think that says a lot as well.

BTW, headphones.com is running a 15% off for the next 48hrs. I just bought the Elear for $595 out the door. And to think a few weeks ago I was preparing to pay $1K.
Also Massdrop has the Liquid Carbon for $299 starting on Thursday.

Do you have to sign up for the mailing list to get that extra off? I didn't see that offered upfront, just the $300 off with trade in.

Is it allowable to post Coupon codes on the board? If not, you can message me and I'll send you the code....if I can figure out how messaging works on this board .
I signed up for the mailing list a few weeks back so that's how I got the code.
