Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

I had both the 600s and Elear at same time. 600s never got used so I gave them to a friend. To my ears the Elears are significantly more dynamic, powerful and lively. I didn't find them to be remotely similar and while I thougjt the 600s sounded fantastic, I don't think they are close to the Elear in sound quality. Although the Elears are much easier to drive, they benefit from good clean power in the same way as the 600s. They open up, and extend as they scale to my amp. My Deckard made them sound great. My Wells Audio Milo turns them into something else all together.

Deckard is my main amp and i also used them with the Elear. I would say the 650 is the closer comparison in terms of sound signature to the elear rather than the 600.

I have both the Elear and Senn. 600's. would not get rid of either. l just wish the Elear was as comfy has the 600s. I can wear my 600s all day long. I do find them both very musical and I prefer the Elear but choice is always good so the 600s will stay

I had both the Elear and 600s at the same time as well.  I had the opposite experience.  I hated the tight clamp of the 600 and found them to give me a headache over time.  I loved their sound, but the comfort was an issue for me.

I'm with you. The HD 600/650 are tolerable at best. The Elear are very plush, microfibre, memory foam, super soft. The Senns are hard, not very ergonomic and feel like they are stuffed with a budget foam.

You can lessen the clamping force easily, there are videos online how to do it.

I also find HD650 much more comfortable than Elear.

The 650 is the only HP I've owned where I forget I have it on my noggin.
MDR-1R would be close behind. HE560 is better than LCD-2.2, but still a bit far behind the 650 in comfort.

Comfort is such an individual thing. I'm with the camp who think the 650 is the most comfortable headphone I've used. The Elear, not that comfy...

Comfort in the Elear didn't work for me either, heavy cans don't feel good for any length of time.

Agree, IMO people that thinks Elear is the most comfortable headphone they've ever put on their head need to try Sony Z1R and most importantly, MDR MA900

In my case, HD650 are uncomfortable as hell, I already bent the band and so on, but the pads are just rocks. Elears are heavy, that is true, however, I got used to that weight and the pads are waaay better. Comfort is different for each person.
