interesting. allegedly a 'darker, thicker' sound

half the power supply, transformer and filter caps (though they claim "Individual power supply for each channel"), same price

guts comparison:

The exact prices are

M-Field with mono input is $1199
M-Field without mono input is $1129

Mentor with mono input is $1299
Mentor without mono input is $1229

So the difference between the devices is $100 and between the stack $200.

cool of course. nice inside!!

but the product positioning is very strange. It turns out that the younger one has no chance. at least there is no reason why to buy, maybe Vitaly will clarify more
For the different sound signatures. Not all people like the same sonic character.

This is really small different in price. M-field looks as stripped version of Mentor. I can't see reason to buy M-Field version

Well guys, i don't know, i am not a representative of Flux. My input will be if I am going to review the M-Field and comment on the sonic differences with the Mentor. What i can say that for some people the pricer model is not always the better. It is about how something sounds and what is your favourite sound signature.
Example, i prefer the tuning of the Focal Clear Mg from the Utopia 2022.

In the other thread you mentioned some sound signature differences (at least how it's supposed to sound different)

From that description the cheaper one in fact would sound more appealing to me

Flux Lab said that the new amplifier has a slightly different sound signature than the Mentor and this sounds like true otherwise there was no reason to throw a new model at the market.

It is supposed to has a darker tone and a thicker, fuller sound in the low frequency range. The sound has a smoothness, a certain intimacy that is characteristic of MOSFET-based devices, with an impressive volume of soundstage.

Thanks for great review  , so hear we go, we have a new champion in middle priced (SS,class A) amplifiers. So I need to sell my S17 pro...:sleepy:
This is two times more expensive than the S17 Pro so it is not really mid-price. The Mentor is on the 1K+ category but it has an exceptional value for money.

Just noticed, with the announcement of the M-Field, the FA series have all been discontinued. Just Mental, M-Field, and the perpetually N/A Volot and Atlas

I will soon upload the deluxe version in my website.
Excellent review my friend.

As a suggestion or more like a request, if you could get hold of a pair of ModHouse Tungsten, single sided version and see if this amp can drive them properly. Given the specs of this amp it should have no problem running them well, but there's always the chance and I'm considering this amp as a possible replacement for my Aune S17 in case it cannot run them properly.

Yep, I would say that above $1k you're well withing the truly Hi-Fi tier and moved beyond the Mid-Fi tier, which I think the S17, which I owned for some months now it's position in, and it's an absolute crazy deal for the price but the Mentor should be a step above it at least.
