As great as the S17 undeniable is, the Mentor is on another league. High-end with a mid-price cloth...
i guess the V222 is knocked off its perch now then?

Hi, I am waiting for one Mentor but with the upgraded cables inside.
And I do plan to compare it with S17 Pro and V222.
I'm very interested in a comparison between the Aune S17 vs the mentor, given that I'm looking to upgrade to something with more power in case I get a pair of ModHouse SS Tungsten's and the S17 doesn't cut it with those beast of a cans.

No comparisons with other amps from my side. And to be honest, I'm also very careful with descriptions before and after burn-in, as you can no longer directly compare with the new device. Subjectively, I would say that it now plays even more naturally and relaxed. I still have What moments every day and don't regret buying the stack for a second. I only noticed a marginal increase in bass, if at all. Could also be my imagination. But I never missed anything here. Yes, the Mentor is a little slimmer than my tube amps, for example, but I'm sure that's exactly what contributes to the clarity of the Mentor. I'm in love.

In power, dynamics, bass, treble, tonality? Trying to get a feel where it's better & worse vs the 222.
I have a Violectric V340 and I love both. That said they are both still breaking in still. I like a hybrid tube dac with my Violectric to give it a touch more warmth. So far though, I feel the soundstage is larger on the Mentor but vocals are better on the V340. Again….still early in the burn in.

I'm looking at a v550. What hybrid dac are you running?

I think the v550 and v340 have similar sound profile IIRC. I have it in a nightstand setup and run an Aune Flamingo.

interesting. allegedly a 'darker, thicker' sound

half the power supply, transformer and filter caps (though they claim "Individual power supply for each channel"), same price

guts comparison:

cool of course. nice inside!!

but the product positioning is very strange. It turns out that the younger one has no chance. at least there is no reason why to buy, maybe Vitaly will clarify more
