So I plugged the AirPods Max with the lightning to 3.5 cable and...

Well well well... now we know the potential of the APM driver... plugged them wired to a top end DAP (in my case Hiby R8) and... they are much much improved even if you're limited to 3.5 single ended. The overall signature is more balanced. The bass is much tighter and controlled and is pretty impressive, the mids are still smooth but fuller sounding the upper mids tilt is gone in favor of a reference midrange that is very articulate, the upper treble has more presence which brings more air as well as significantly improved resolution. It's a very natural sounding heaphone, colored me impressed.

Note that they are power hungry High gain and Turbo mode 50/60% volume on R8 no less, given it delivers 500mw at 32ohms those are fairly harder to drive than I figured

These high-level collaborations seem to be becoming a bit of a thing in the latter part of 2020 (a very welcome thing too!).
Will be interesting to see if it becomes an increasing trend in the coming year

Yeah...as many have pointed out it's clear Sony's overall aesthetic has been a huge influence on Campfire...I think a collaboration between the two could be magical.

Edit: I think the ultimate might be for Campfire to release a "Sony edition Andromeda" (I know I know) while Sony crafts a digital player designed from the ground up to get the most out of the Andro.
