Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why Spiral Ears requires a closed mouth impression?

This is what I've discovered- if a company is much more used to dealing with the musician market, you may want to ask them "do you recommend closed mouth instead for non-singers"? I've had at least two refits with two different companies come back substantially more comfortable after doing closed-mouth impressions despite what they ask for.

Of course if the company caters a lot to audiophiles then open-mouthed for them is probably perfectly fine cos' they'll compensate by default.

The only thing that could've made this better is if he had all designs the same, and performed the reviews not knowing which model was which. Then the review could be free of all the marketing and such. But otherwise these reviews are spectacular! Thanks!

I agree! That would be my holy grail!

Thank you Jason, was a delight following the course of the shootout. Enjoy your rest before taking up the torch for Fit for a Bat 2 hahaha

Well Jason my deepest respect for this series, which I think can only be described as a pinnacle of review writing and an inspiration to all aspiring writers (as myself).

It's one thing to give a bland, analytic description of an iem but it's something else to write such a narrative.

Yep...fully agree on that

Thank you so much for your support guys. I'll be taking a break and then it'll be time to look forward. There's a few reviews I'll clear up first (CDM vs Hugo; a short Universal IEM shootout (not like FFAB); and then yes, FFAB 2.

FFAB 2 already has between 10-15 CIEMs lined up. :D

Not to push you to your limits, but then maybe a consolidated FFAB/FFAB 2 ranking?

Jelt2359. as you've heard from others your audio insight combined with a wonderful ability to express your analyses and impressions in entertaining prose is unique. Thanks for this effort and for the great read! Even for those of us not willing or able to go TOTL, we likely learned some things about sound signature variances and our preferences within them. I have 64Audio A6''s on order, and your A12 review may set me dreaming for the future...but by then FFAB2 will have set the bar higher still.

Thanks again.

Greet shootout Jelt! Will the bass on the W500s satisfy bassheads in terms of sheer impact?
