Awesome, welcome to the club mate!! Right now I think it's only me and Jason on the W500 thread, but maybe even he unsubbed a while ago..

Btw., just read a review yesterday (after I purchased it, lol), I think it's actually pretty different than what I was expecting. Guess I was expecting a kind of V-shaped iem with more forward treble but treble is apparantly laidback(?) Well, Jason will let us know the deets..

At full power to the dynamic drivers, the W500 AHMorph is quite v-shaped in its sound signature. With its obviously boosted bass, treble retains its sparkle, prominence and extension. The midrange seems to take a slight back seat, despite sounding equally, if not more lush. Ultimately, this results in a slightly v-shaped sound, which is quite perfect for fans of EDM and its various sub-genres.

According to this source,

http://theheadphonelist.com/new-advanced-acousticwerkes-aaw-w500-ahmorph-hybrid-custom-ear-monitors/

"When the dial is turned completely counter-clockwise, the dynamic driver operates at full power and BA bass/mid drivers operate at partial power for a slight U-shaped sound signature... As the dial continues to turn clockwise, the dynamic driver continues to have power redirected to the BA drivers, and when turned completely clockwise, all power is going to the BA drivers and none to the dynamic driver resulting in a mid-centric sound signature."

It can go from U-shaped fun to mid-centric intimate. Versatile indeed. Tunable IEMs really increase their value, as opposed to one fixed sound sig.

Jelt, would you be so kind as to provide a short comparison between the W500 and the Legend Omega? Kind of torn between these two.

The A12 will be tuneable as well once the new modules are released and from what I understand you'll be able to buy modules with specific soundsigs;for example a module for jazz, classical, metal, etc or just buy the manual module and adjust as you see fit.

I have doubts that will change the sound drastically. When I called the company they said it wouldn't have that much impact. Its not like you are replacing the drivers. The module is just for ambient noise is my understanding.

BTW CHECK HIS WEBSITE THE REVIEWS ARE UP SE5 WINS!

Jelt,

Now that the reviews are over, tell us which is your favorite and why(not this has nothing to do with the score of the reviews per your disclaimer)?

Disagree with the modules not changing sound. Second, SE5 is on my short list as soon as they implement ADEL.  I listen 10 hours a day and my hearing is important.

I'm just saying what the lady at the company told me. Why do you think it's going to make a massive difference. I don't buy the hearing thing either. If it is true youre ears are already damaged then no going back

Listen to them first then makeup your mind.  The tech works, I usually listen around 2 clicks in on my device, whereas before I was 4-5 clicks in.  That's significant.  Time will tell if the modules alter sound, I'm betting they will since they are offering various modules-otherwise what would be the point of having so many different modules.

I was told it was just for ambient noise. Again, I could be wrong but that is what was conveyed to me when I called to ask about the a12s. She didn't make it seem like there would be a sonic difference when I asked. It might work, but nothing has been proven yet and you cant get back hearing so at best you just wont do any further damage

I think that's the point...

I am looking at SE5 but I would love someone to compare A10.

I guess my argument is the damage is already done meaning it wont get worse either. maybe if u used them as your first pair of headphones ever...

That actually isn't as ridiculous as it sounds...

jelt2359, thank you for such a comprehensive shootout. It really is a massive achievement. When you step back and take it in as a whole, it becomes clear that all of the monitors included in the shootout are incredibly good.
