Got my Cute Beyond today to go with my Fubar II.

It's a definite improvement over my CMOY. There's noticeably more detail in the music and the bass is a lot stronger and more lively. I don't have anything higher end to compare it to, but for me it's a step up.

I have a couple of opa2107s coming in the mail, so in a week or two I'll pop those in the amp and DAC and let you know if it made a difference that my ears could notice.

I'm going to be needing some better headphones now I think.

Hello Guys,
I know that the cute encore and beyond differ in the nature of their sound because of the amplifier type. The encore warmer and the beyond described as brighter and clearer. Does anyone know how the beyond and battery cute compare aside from their type? A vs AB although both are OPA2227. I am using the sennheiser hd 595 as my cans. Im currently considering the beyond or the battery cute II.

Also if ever I will change the opa2227, is the opa 2107 the most advisable because Ive been reading that a lot of people are using the opa 2107.

Thank you!!

To Madman,
You removed the battery connection and it did not create a noise during playback? I removed mine and it made a noise afterwards. I asked the dealer where I bought this and he said it will create a noise if removed. He is a friend of David Lin of Firestone.

I guess nobody reads this thread anymore. I'll just post another question just in case. Any opinion on the OPA2111 OPA2604 OPA2134 sound quality? I'm planning to replace my battery cute II opa2227. Thank you in advance.

whoops..sorry dude...didnt notice u posted a question for me...anyway...

no..mine doesnt create any noise... even when im running it off the A2ZS or the Fubar II. clean as they come. but my Fubar II did have some noise issues a couple of weeks ago. i sent it in for warranty and it came back perfect.

and its confirmed its the Fubar and not the amp...coz i tested it with a different amp and i get the same noise.

as for the opamps...ive only ever tried the 2107 in my Battery II..and i dont think i wanna try anything else :P

That Fubar III looks VERY tempting... I would probably buy one, but saving up for a move in a few months.. damnit! I hate moving.

Someone please take the plunge and let us know how it sounds! The price is pretty attractive considering what you get.

~Zip

Edit: SOB I want one...

Fubar III looks like good value for $210, Fubar II + cute amp is $290.

it'll probably sound like a Fubar II + battery cute since that's what it is (according to the website anyway)

Hopefully shoving it all in one box hasn't had any negative consequences.

Seems they've dropped the encore amp though.

I am about to buy something from firestone....

Out of a Macbook Pro, I could do Toslink or USB. Which would be the Fubar II or the Spitfire. Which would be better do you think?

I think I'll get one of those DACs and a Cute Beyond amp. Haven't decided for sure because I had my eye on a Gilmore Lite, but I figure it'll be more inexpensive to do it this way probably anyways. And they look good together, which you can say about a DAC+Gilmore combo (that I know of).

My cute beyond has a fair bit of background noise using CX300's that I never noticed with my larger headphones. Anyone else experience this? I emailed tech support and they said they're going to send me a new one. I started a new thread on this issue if anyones interested
