Does anyone know what the price is going to be for the xb1000's? Any clue on MSRP and a street price? Also how about a release date in the U.S.? Thank you for the review, I saw another review a week or 2 ago where the listener didn't like the xb1000 compared to either the 500 or 700 I can't remember which one, but it was a little dissappointing hearing someone not liking the xb1000's that much. This review is more of what I hoped to hear about the 1000's, especially if the soundstage is wider and more natural. Now  I may still consider purchasing if the price is reasonable compared to other xb models.
They are about $280 now.

Still no release date for N. America as far as i know. If you can't wait you can get them on ebay
There's cheaper if you search around a bit.

I finally gave my XB1000's a listen (amped), I can tell you that these things are built to take punishment and they can produce insane volume levels cleanly, old school funk and hip hop just pounds through these things and the huge ear cups are awesome.

I really like the XB1000 and they do exactly what Sony built them for.

I wanna hit them with some Detroit Techno next.

I can confirm the old school funk thing.  The XB1000 is not the final word on clarity or high fidelity, but they flat-out rock when you put enough muscle behind them.  I'm liking them more and more as I spend time with them.

I agree that the XB1000 need muscles to get what it was designed to do.  It will grow on you as you use it more.  I can't listen to Trance/House music on anything else now.

When I had them connected to my lap top I was not impressed but once I hit them with the E9 they woke up big time and it seems the more you push them the better they sound, I tried a bass heavy graph on the EQ and they really showed their stuff.

They do just what they are designed for.

I think I should un-subscribe from this thread since I sold my XB1000 to Croozer. Reading positive comments will make me feel regret despite me not actually enjoying them while I had them in my possession!

I urge anyone who is impatient to just buy some XB700s in the mean time as when I owned both, I found the XB700 to be more satisfying/enjoyable than the XB1000 at a fraction of the price. Of course YMMV.

I think the trouble that some people have with the XB1000 is that I really wouldn't consider it to be a basshead headphone.  I think people expect that if it had a higher number than the 500 and 700, then it should have even more bass, but that's not really what it is.

OR due to it having 70mm drivers printed all over it! :p But then again around here most people should know already with 40mm drivers you can get both crazy strong as well as deep bass so the driver size is a very moot point but yea still 70mm driver has a physiological impact anyway.

The 70mm drivers can really take a pounding without breaking a sweat.

These headphones were built to blast.

Well, I'm just an xb line enthusiast

. I have the 500 and the 700, and now I want the 1000

. The 500 is cheap and should satisfy any budget basshead with rpgwizards eq settings. I personally enjoy the 700 more with the ocean bass presentation, and why wouldn't you want the club feeling that the OP talks about?

hmm... Stil $299 at the Sony Store.  It will be interesting to see what happens to the price of these as time goes on.  I still think that the expected audience of these is not going to like them, but I wouldn't be surprised if other people to find and enjoy them.

Can you comment on if the XB-1000's bass takes over the whole headphone? I like trance because of the rezzy super sonic transparent synths and all the layering that is in the music. Would the bass on these headphones take over everything?
