It won't be $120 for sure, several sites reported such figure early and it was probably inaccurate info. Japan wouldn't have sold it for such high price at launch then either, I'd expect ~$250 at launch (if it launches in a few months tops), in 6+ months we might be closer to ~$200 figure already.
will these XB1000 have more bass than the Bose OE? i'm trying to look for reviews but i can't seem to find any. also, i'm new here and looking forward to learn a lot from you guys.
I have had heard but not at the same time. The XB1000 definitely has more bass than the OEs. The OEs were pretty bassy as it is but these XB1000s have a lot more.
I've also now had the chance to compare the XB700 and the XB1000 side by side. I'm not sure if people were saying the XB1000 had less bass, but I'd have to disagree, they clearly had more. It was also the large, enveloping type, like the XB700, except just more sense of vastness, mostly because the soundstage on the XB1000 was even wider and deeper than the XB700's already huge soundstage.
I was very, very impressed with the XB1000 and I am really going to add it to my collection soon. I have a friend selling one for about $270US and I'll add it to my harem of headphones once I have enough funds. Unfortuantely I just bought and LCD2 and an amp, am gearing up for Merlin, so I'm not sure when I will have enough funds for this one unless I sell some of my other gear, which I don't feel like doing at the moment.
I've now had the chance to compare the XB700 and XB1000 side by side, and trust me, the XB1000s have more SPL than the XB700.
to yashu, these are not as "forward" as the XB700. The bass is just as forward as the XB700, but the overall sound sig of the xb1000 is more laidback, far far more laidback than the xb700 actually. And I like it. Bassy and laidback are my middle name. Er, names. The XB1000 has an even larger soundstage than the XB700, much wider, and finally having a lot of depth to it. I still need more time with them to study the nuances of the layering of the instruments and soundstage, but let's just say these aren't going to win any separation awards any time soon.
Someone said they're not suited for gaming, well I've always been weird in this sense that I can totally game with uber-bass heavy cans and not get the details drowned out by the bass. I must be a special case, but these are most likely going to be great for gaming the way the XB700 was for me.
I still think the XB1000 has less bass quantity/impact/rumble than the XB500 or 700. Perhaps it is perceived to be less due to the larger soundstage making it less "in your face"? Either way, I was disappointed with the XB1000 overall.

hmmm, perhaps this is what I experienced with the beyerdynamic DT770, bass isnt in your face. perhaps its the seal or the large driver not being close enough to the ear. my ES7 gave amazing bass impact and really put my DT770 to shame. my xb500 gives me something similar to my ES7, impactful bass that makes it feel the headphones are shifting off your head (but of course they dont).

How long have you had the XB1000? It didn't impress me at the beginning, but it grew on me, in a very good way. I can't listen to electronic music on any other headphones now. BTW, the MDR-XB41ex is the IEM version of the XB1000 IMO. Look for my unboxing video and impressions soon in the IEM forum.
I've had it a few weeks now. I prefer the XB700, Pro900 and D7000 to it for electronic. There's nothing wrong with them, I just don't really like the overall/bass presentation in comparison to those other cans. It's like you said in your review, the XB1000 is laid back and the XB700 is in your face. I guess I'm not one for a laid back sound.

After lurking for a few months,
I think this is the main reason I signed up at these forums-
to say this:
Is it possible that they won't release the XB1000 in the USA?
Is the XB1000 really worth a $250 jump over the XB700?
The only amp which I could imagine that would give a very noticable change towards such sound characteristics would probably be the ZO Personal Subwoofer (which also would take care of any serious basshead's desire for even greater bass quantity)
