I have both and love both. Ie900 for edm etc and final a8000 for everything else. I got my a8000 new for 1.2k too

Well, for me, up to now, A8000 shines on big orchestra music for an IEM. I would say it even compete with Arya in some sense. Although the soundstage is scaled down, the imaging is there. What I dislike is the ultra-fast decay, for violin and guitar, it sounds unreal. Even piano doesn't sound good. That's why I am thinking about getting a normal driver in my collection.

Agreed with your assessment of the ultra-fast decay with instrumental notes. Even drums feel dead.

Hey now, interested in how your A8000 are settling in now. I know they're excellent for classical, but what about metal - useless or component? Any comparisons at all with IE900?

A8000 decay and settles too quickly. Making it perfect for quick metal tracks. It can keep up without hazing the presentation.

But this very same asset can be a problem when listening for classical tracks. Where you may want things to linger longer.

Great for metal.
