Apart from the extra power, would there be any sonic difference in changing the AM3A to the AM5? This is supposing the IEM's and headphones being used are already within the driving capabilities of the AM3A.

The AM5 is noticeably warmer.

And I have no idea what the other guy was meaning either .....

At the moment, I have the X7ii/AMA3 and F9 Pro IEM's, so was wondering if the AM5 would be a worthy upgrade. I could get better IEM's, but not being able to listen to them before buying because of my location, is a nightmare.

Sorry, do you mean I should get something like a Mojo? As I have just downsized and recently sold an iFi iDSD Black.

I meant you should get an external portable amp instead of another module for the same price. It would get you more battery and the sound is better too. Like A5 for example

I asked on the FiiO forum about adding an A5 to the X7ii and they said it was an improvement to the X5iii and having owned that setup, I'd agree, but not an improvement to the X7ii as the X7ii's sonic ability is higher than that of the A5.

I just got Fiio X7ii and I loved sound by the way I Was intend to use iso file to POP to my HOLO Spring DAC but Fiio not sending dsd64 instead pcm176kh . DSF file is no problem send dsd64 Why is that ? I was think iso file sure no problem but not the case because I have more than 1500 iso dsd cant play use Aurender N100H server so I want use X7 as music player for my DAC.I dont want computer at all so JRiver or Roon not option. Please Help !!

Also, I just got a Lifatec miniToslink cable, upgraded from a cheap Micca cable, and I thought that maybe there was an issue with the Micca cable but what I'm finding is the minitoslink 3.5mm plug does not go all the way in. More of a concern for me is, is the glass bottoming out on something inside? I want it securely all the way as much into the port as it would go but I also don't want the glass on the new Lifatec ($100 minitoslink) to get scratched bottoming out inside the X7ii.

I am thinking of buying one of these in the next few days. I have a sony zx3000 and an basso dx80, and I want this dap for using spotify on. Does spotify work well on this dap? I had an x5iii before and it was very slow downloading songs off the internet

I use coaxial digital output for dsd iso file to HOLO Spring DAC for play DSD64 but X7 mark2 sending PCM 176KH instead DSD64. But DSF,DIFF file is sending native dsd to HOLO DAC . I have so many iso file not convert to DSF file I having problem to find software to do that so I was think Fiio can do it but not working so far

The one caveat is having to close spotify before reboots or shutdown or you lose your offline contents. Even a force shutdown via square android button works so not too bad.

Fwiw Tidal does not have this issue. I recommend Tidal for the x7ii not just for that reason but on the x7ii you can actually hear a sonic improvement (when using a hifi subscription).

Ran a quick test on my scruffy XDP-100R and the compatibility list seems to be correct, at least for this device. Hi-res PCM works fine, DSD (neither native nor via DoP) doesn't. Didn't bother to test MQA since it is merely a marketing scam.
