It states 192kHz on FiiO's own site under the product description.

Why don't you get something like an iFi Micro iDSD Black, that will play everything unconverted for home and anything else for out and about? I doubt you'll notice the higher quality files whilst dodging traffic or in a noisy office anyway.

I needed an android DAP (not dac\amp) and x7 became the best candidate for that over all abilities and characteristics.
Currently, I want either iDSD BL or Hugo. Have you compared those two?

Sorry, I haven't. I live in Jersey, Channel Islands and as we have no specialist dealers, I have to purchase on the basis of reviews and opinions on here.

The point I was trying to make, is if you had a really good home system (iFi or Chord in your case), then your portable audio becomes less important, in as much as you won't be listening to it at home for supercritical listening. So unless you wanted to use a DAP for DSD files from a Laptop in an office or wherever, that particular function becomes unimportant.

I do not want to sort of split my audio system on two or more parts depending on place...I wanted and want "one rig to rule them all" and everywhere)) All I do to upgrade the sound of x7 is just add external amp such as alo rx or alo cv5. Currently, as I use only earbuds, I use only cv5. x7+cv5 I think will beat both Hugo and BL (and it already won over mini-m8 etc).

I'm confused. You said "Currently, I want either iDSD BL or Hugo. Have you compared those two?" Isn't that splitting your system into two parts?

I think it's a case of you can't have it both ways. A DAP is obviously portable but won't have all the capabilities of the iDSD or Hugo, but they won't fit in your pocket.

I'm choosing between Hugo and BL in order to compare one of them with my current rig which is x7+cv5. I satisfied with the sound I have now, but if mentioned dac\amp are better, than I will stay with the best option. In the end of the day survive only one rig)

For the reason I mentioned above, I haven't been able to listen to a lot of stuff, but logic dictates a static system like a mains powered Amp/DAC that has the inputs you require has to sound better than a DAP, that is made for portability in mind.

I presume you in a location to try these comparisons out.

There are many people who have heard x7 and compared it to even Chord Dave...they say there is difference, but it is not huge and does not worth the difference in money at all. AM1 is fine amp - it is just easy going audiophilic amp which lacks for example power. So CV5 through LO completely change perception of x7. There is even Currowing famous youtube blogger who says that there is no difference at all between Hugo and Alo Rx with iems. Also, fiio x7 alone sounds better than iDSD (1 silver edition) and mini-m8. So amp\dac is not specifically better than a DAP. Nowadays, at least. Everything need to be tested with the own music, file formats, headphones etc...

That doesn't make sense. As whatever technology is in the newest DAPs that makes them sound so good, which they do, the same can be fitted into the larger cases of desktop Amp/DACs, without having to compromise anything due to size constraints imposed on DAP manufacturers.

That doesn't make sense, technology-wise. As whatever technology is in the newest DAPs, more of it can be crammed into the larger cases of desktop Amp/DACs.

I found the AM1 rubbish compared to the AM2 I got about a week later. I've got an AM3 amp module for sale on here if you are interested.
1) who cares about technology if ears tell different story? In my case, it is all about synergy between all pieces of the rig, music and one certain individual. Ears is the arbiter of what is good and what is not. Moreover, how do we measure technology? how would we conclude that technologically x7 loose to BL?
2) and majority people sells their am2, while many stays with either am1 or am3. I have not heard any of them, because cv5 or rx will win over any of them. Again I want to remind that earbuds is completely different story in comparison with full-size cans or iems. They require their own setup, amplification and so on. So what is good for iems, will not work for high ohm earbuds. Therefore, opinion on am (fiio amps) will differ.

Does anyone connect their player to their computer using MTP mode for the USB connection? I've noticed it doesn't show up on the computer unless I connect it in MTP mode, switch it to PTP mode, wait for it to appear, then switch to MTP mode. I'll hear the sound for the connection when connecting using MTP, but then I'll hear the USB disconnecting sound. The device shows up in device manager, but I won't see it in Explorer.

Of course it's about the sound and not technology, but with the extra space to work with in a desktop unit, the designers aren't compromised by building down to a portable size.

If DAPs sounded better than desktop systems, manufacturers wouldn't bother marketing them as they wouldn't sell any units.
