Unfortunately I don't have a desktop setup right now. I have my Fiio x7ii and that's it at this point. I am very happy with it but as the AverageDude mentioned above, I feel like my Aeons may need more power (not volume) and now I'm considering adding a more powerful amp. Now I am considering mojo or Fiio A5. Do you have any suggestions?
Sorry I don't know the Aeons, but my Mojo runs the T1's like a dream. It's a superb device, but I'm not sure how it works with the X7ii, I've never connected my X7ii to it :) - I used the coax out from my X3ii to the mojo to good effect however.

It does work

Hey guys, I received my X7ii a couple of days ago and had a couple of questions. I have spent the last couple of days adding my music and fixing the album art images to show up so haven't been able to do too much listening yet! I have updated it to the latest firmware as well (1.05?).

1) When pressing play, there seems to be a 3-4 second delay before I hear the music. This means I miss the beginning of the track and have to skip back to the beginning again in order to hear it. Is this just a bug with the latest firmware or something the player has always done? I would really like a fix for this!

2) I am listening mostly with my Shure SE535 IEMs and have the X7ii set to High Gain at the moment. Even my quietest recordings can get quite loud at volume 70-80 so i'm thinking of dropping the gain to Low just as a safety precaution! Is there any reason that there would be a degradation in sound quality by doing this? Or is literally just going to lower the volume? I have never had a gain option before and am concerned that lowing it may cause the amp to not perform at it's best.

Any help would be appreciated!
Dear friend,

The delay would happen for certain music file or operation? Every music file? Did you turn on the Viper effect?

Best regards

I've had the X7mk2 for a couple of weeks now. I use it mostly as a usb source for my car (the new high-zoot sony GS9).
I have a couple of issues:
1) the unit takes forever to turn on. My old X5? click and it's on. This? wait... and wait... and then welcome screen... and then fiio screen... and then start up fiio music.
2) there's no "click" or other indication for the user to know if the on button has been properly depressed long enough for the damn thing to start the "turn on" process. Nothing more fun than pressing a button for it to do not so much!
these are my Large Issues.
3) there's a whole lot of treble. I just now located the viper eq, so maybe that will fix it. i don't know.

I've got a Large Collection of wav files. And the music sounds heavenly both with IEMs and in the car. But, that start up process is maddening! Is there a firmware update for that?
Dear friend,

For Android system, it would take more time for booting the product. You may need to hold the power button for 3-5s for turning on the X7MKII.

Best regards

@FiiO, just wondering if there are any plans for storing multiple user created eq profiles. Haven't played with viper effects at all, so maybe my answer is in there. I do use the default eq, accessed through the playing songs options menu. I have a few headphones that I make just a few dB adjustments in a few spots through out the range, but would love to store the settings so I can switch a little easier between phones. I prefer not to eq at all, which works well on some of my gear, but I have 400i's that need treble hump taming to really shine and some mid-range iem's I have need just a few db added down low and on lower treble freqs to shine. All achievable with this player, but not easy to switch around. Last settings stick in the eq, so on/off works if I happen to have a set that doesn't need eq in the rotation with the set the eq is configured for, but that's just not always the case.
Dear friend,

We will try to report to the engineer about that. Currently, maybe you could use the Viper effect for help.

Best regards

I also noticed this thing, but never thought much of it (?)

Some smartphones act similarly, and X7mkii's boot time is more or less the same as my Xiaomi Mi Max 2 boot times, it just is good to remember that you'll have 30 seconds to 1 minute of waiting.

No Android device really boots much faster from what I have, so until I'll have one with the newest Android thingy which is lightning quick in booting, I'm happy with those times :)

Hello, the delay is actually happening any time the music has been paused for more than 20 seconds, and every time i turn the device on. If I am playing a music file and then press pause, after around 20 seconds you can hear a quiet 'crackle' or 'pop' as though a part of the X7ii is disabling (amp for power saving maybe?), and then if I press Play it will take 4 seconds of the track playing before I hear the music. It can be quite annoying when i'm in a situation where I need to pause and resume my music quite often, as it means I keep missing sections of the music.

I usually use FLAC files with all EQ and Viper settings disabled, but I have just tested with EQ on, with Viper on, and with MP3 192kbps/320kbps files and the delay happens every time.

I have also tested with a selection of different headphones and IEMs and get the same result.

I love everything else about the X7ii, although I agree with the other member who asked if we could have a setting for adjusting the Volume wheel sensitivity. I find it too slow at the moment.

I am pretty sure it is a power saving feature, to me it seems like the amp is being turned on and off. Not sure if 20 seconds was the time it took for it to shut down, since I never paused it for short amount of time. But when it is turned on or left alone for some time it always takes a bit for the amp? to turn on.
Only listen to .flac or dsd .iso or .dsf.

This reminds me, I was going to ask on here what the 'Performance Mode' in the Settings does? I usually have it on 'Balanced' but I did try it on 'High Performance' to see if it helped my issue but it didn't. Does anyone know what it does exactly?

The performance mode ensures that all audio will be sent to the dac without any SRC(resampling), in balanced mode dsd, dxd and PCM audio exceeding sampling rates of 24bit 192 khz will get downsampled to either 24bit 192khz or 176.4khz
Edit: Balanced/performance mode was added later and in balanced mode it will have about 1h more battery life

I see. So if i'm pretty much exclusively listening to 16bit FLAC files then it wouldn't matter if I keep it on balanced mode?

Dear friend,

The delay you mentioned after pausing 20s is a feature of the electronic switch.

The first 4s would be cut for every track or only the first file you played? Tried to turn off the Viper to see if it helps? The music files are in internal or external SD card?

Best regards

I'm new to the thread. I'm doing research for a new DAP.

Does the X7 mk2 have any type of song limit for the media library?

Any issues using the larger micro-sd cards (400gb & 512gb)?

Are there 512GB mSD cards out already?

It will become sliggish and hard to browse if you fill it with MP3s, try to avoid that
