I suck at measuring dimensions so just check it out.

It's like a little brother and big brother, grinding on each other.

Thank you very much -

For both the images, and the imagery.

I reviewed the X7 a while ago, but have recently contacted the vendor that I loaned the unit from, as I now want to purchase one!

I would personally love to see an amp module with a volume knob.. But I know I'm probably one of the few.

You're very welcome and same here.

I accidentally change the tracks sometimes, which leads to frustration, so easily distinguishable buttons would be a plus!

I'll probably get the Gen 2 X7 if the buttons are improved and screen is improved as well.

Burn in is a small nuisance. Not a deal breaker, just mildly annoying.

why not, there are a lots of Android phone has different RAM/ROM in China, it is just the same logic. someone will like to pay more for the extra RAM although it is useless if you don't want to run so many Apps at same time.

Nothing wrong with different versions of X7 James. Only grunt is we followed the X7 project from the beginning on this thread and don't recall any mention that X7 will have two different RAM options especially since the X7 only got release so recently.  As a consumer I think we want choices and FiiO is doing a fantastic job at that , but we also want to know those choices before making the purchase decision.  The early adopters bought the 1gb ram version because they were thinking X7 will ONLY have 1gb and nothing more until X8, etc..  I find the speed slightly laggy when browsing through a library of large songs with album art quickly and 2gb ram would make it feel a lot snappier I expect.  Can we somehow exchange for the 2gb version and pay the difference?  Also if we knew there was going to be a different X7 version without module I would have waited to buy the 2gb version without module (prefer to buy the AM2 module) instead of jumping the gun.  Hope this perspective makes sense of how some of us feel.

this discussion has been going on for 8 pages now?

damn guys, i get that you feel cheated, but:

-we don't know if more ram can solve anything
consider the following: this is an AUDIO PLAYER. it is not a phone. it is not meant for gaming. it is meant for one thing. playing audio.
now, how many background services are running on your X7? i've got 47. it uses 198MB out of 1024MB.
-FiiO decided on this later on. it happens.
this in no way "devalues" your player.
-more internal storage
i know some of you can't live with 200gb + 32GB, but that's why TF to SD adapters are a thing. get a normal SD card and hook it onto one of those. you're out cheaper and get more storage than FiiO could give (512GB + 32GB)
-what has been done has been done.
you bought a player, now you can continuously banter over how **** it is now that there will be one with double the GigaBytes, but how will that help you?
-a better something is ALWAYS around the corner. are you going to wait forever, never buying anything?
MOST important:
-the sound quality will not increase or decrease from more ram or more storage.

i got a good deal out of this player, when compared to the stuff A&K makes. be happy, chill out, play some funky music, baby.
in other news: @RebeccaSugar your comments crack me up

I think it's more the fact that streaming services (such as Spotify) apparently can't be saved to SD card when using the "offline mode" feature.

I'm actually a little confused as well. Why was there a demand for more RAM?

we are NOT going to sell the 2g+64g X7 at the same price, and it is nothing about features and sound quality. it just make someone feel better when they have more ram and rom. and also we are working in the issue which Tibel can not save to mSD. BTW, you can't get the 2g+64g version before May which is almost 6 month after we released X7.

also , if there are enough people like, we will like to develop a module so maybe you can put 4 SD card in the module which can supports up to 512gx4=2T. will you like to pay for it ?

if only 20% of ram is used under normal circumstances why bother with the upgrade .
I mean ,its about as ram efficient an iphone .

Unlike some phones that consume 2/3rds of their ram even when idle............. *Cough* Samsung *Cough*

before we released X7, there are quite someone worry about the RAM size cause they have problem when used Android phone. I heard soon there will have 6G RAM Android phone in 2016. it is crazy but there are people need it .

in my opinion, it is unnecessary but we never make thing for ourself but make for our customer.

Quick newbie comparison between X7 and Plenue M. Both are similiarly priced.

X7 Pros
Clearer, more detailed
Better resolution
Better separation
Better Soundstage (Plenue M is already great, but the X7 bests it!!)
Fluid UI
Android OS

Plenue M pros
Thicker presentation
Better bass impact
More compact size

Conclusion
After made quick comparison, I lean to X7 with this so much pros despite the wireless issues i have. Hopefully, Fiio support resolve this quick. I feel the X7 pretty much an upgrade from my Plenue M, I love the detail retrieval of the X7. Can't wait to change the amp to something better at clarity and imaging. Yes, I'm after clarity and details. Overall, X7 is a great device. Good job, Fiio.

Note: Im using Oppo PM3 and Nuforce Primo 8 during the comparison.

Hi James,

I just wanted to ask if the issue with Tidal and being able to save to the mSD will be solved for the current version of the DAP? I hope so as I just bought it!! Any news about that?
Thank you
