Hi James,

I just wanted to ask if the issue with Tidal and being able to save to the mSD will be solved for the current version of the DAP? I hope so as I just bought it!! Any news about that?
Thank you

we just back to work from CNY, will share any news about this ASAP, and this is nothing about the RAM/ROM size.

I hear that a factory reset after upgrade sorts that issue...just make sure you back up files first or you have to set up all of your play lists again.

It does. I was complaining about Spotify not being loud enough a while ago. I mean Spotify is always going to be a little bit more quiet than a raw and wriggling player by nature. However, Spotify itself did get a volume boost after a factory reset. I don't have a need to go all the way to 55-60 anymore.

also , if there are enough people like, we will like to develop a module so maybe you can put 4 SD card in the module which can supports up to 512gx4=2T. will you like to pay for it ?

I would be happy with 2 SD cards. The other spec that is important will be the amp section.

there are one question, if we make a module with extra SD/mSD slot, we will lost the usb data transfer features cause the extra SD/mSD will have to use the OTG feature so the USB can't be used for USB DAC and data transfer with PC.

Oof, that's personally a ginormous deal breaker for me. I use the DAC function quite a bit so I do a good amount of moving around with my laptop. I'm sure some folks will have a use for it. Are you saying with this module that you can still charge with USB, but you can't do data transfer?

we are NOT going to sell the 2g+64g X7 at the same price, and it is nothing about features and sound quality. it just make someone feel better when they have more ram and rom. and also we are working in the issue which Tibel can not save to mSD. BTW, you can't get the 2g+64g version before May which is almost 6 month after we released X7.

Definitely don't expect the price to be the same for the upgraded version! That would be unreasonable expectations. But we don't mind paying more for the higher capacity version. Personally I don't care about
the internal storage as this can be expanded with mSD but having more ram is a good thing since it is something we can't easily upgrade since it is internal and permanent. It's also good to have more ram to future proof and extend the life of the X7 in case software requires more ram in the future.

I also understand products do get improvements over time and it is reasonable for the X7 to get those improvements but perhaps the timing of this announcement is the sore spot as the X7 is released just recently in North America.

I imagined as much.

The best solution is to create a place on your site, or your vendors, so that people could order these exotic features when they want it. I mean, if you could construct a module, do not pre-produce many of them. Just create-by-order them, based upon how many orders you have.

I imagine more exotic amps would be more expensive, but you should produce them for people needing them.

Another thing: For example, I would like to loose wifi or bluetooth in favor of more storage and more battery. If you ever create a lesser or better X7, you can consider this.

Anyway, I am a X5II happy user now, and will get an X7 very soon (still having to save up a few bucks for it!)

This is not a problem since we most likely won't be using the usb at same time when using the dual card slot module. We can just swap back to the other module when USB is needed. I think this will be a very popular module if FiiO makes it. I personally would buy it.

would it be possible to release the pinout information of the module connector?

I have found that, as documented elsewhere for previous X players, the Unicode encoding of .m3u8 playlists is not recognized if the playlist file is encoded without byte order marking (BOM). This is a bit unfortunate, as "no BOM" appears to be the standard recommended, according to wikipedia.

it took me 2 computer reboots and some extra software but it's working!

now going to see if this works with the original filenames i had (currently replaced every filename by a number)

Björk is Björk again! works great.

Hmm I think I will post a few questions for Fiio.

The fact they attempt to respond to all questions is simply awesome. I love my X7. Will I miss the extra memory and will I regret my purchase when a newer/flashier version comes out? I don't know. Maybe. But that's technology for you - it never sits still. Yes, i do wish the screen resolution is sharper for a TOTL player (for eg), but I rationalise this by the fact that, put into context amongst its competitors, it represents very good value. And the bonus: the support is fantastic. Now that's gold. Great job, Fiio

So, Fiio, if you'd humour my questions:
1. When will the VUI visualisations be available?
2. Is it possible to develop functionality such that when the volume slider appears on the screen (once you press the hardware volume buttons), pressing some part of the screen (maybe the circle) will mute/unmute the track?
3. When will IEMs with volume controls be supported? I know the play/pause/next track/previous track function works, but not volume. Yet.
4. The ability to group albums together in artist view is really nice. When will we get the option to view genre grouped by artist grouped by album (for eg)?
5. When can we switch the function of the hardware buttons around? I know it's been discussed but haven't heard any dates yet.
6. Can we get album artwork of the current track on the lock screen? I think other apps are already able to do that.

Also, a stupid question to people here. If I were to get the high powered amp when it comes out (AM5?), is there any downside (apart from artery life) when using it with an IEM? Is it noisier, for example?

Thanks!!

We're flattered by your praise :) So it'd be quite remiss of me not to try to answer your questions. :) Unfortunately I don't know much at the moment...

1. This needs to be fixed one way or another. Either we put this out in the next firmware update, or we put a big asterisk after the VU meter visualization in the ads remarking loud and clear that it's only a planned feature in a coming firmware update
2. Hmm, what's wrong with pressing the pause button?
3. It appears to be more a question of "if" than "when" at the moment.
4. Back when all the category listings were single level, I'd suggested the ability to freely combine category filters as you suggest. The developers chose to hard-code the artists->albums hierarchy instead, perhaps because the early X players did not have processing power for the freeform suggestion. Now the X7 has come out, with all the processing power one can ask for, but the FiiO Music app appears to have taken some cues from the previous X player UI. I can certainly field your suggestion to the developers now and see if they can do it in the future--but it seems we're still partly in a bugfixing phase. :xf_eek:
5. (insert something like the answer to (1) here...)
6. I'm sure this is possible...

And yes--you really should choose the gain of the amp to suit the earphones you're using. Something like the AM2 module, with the same gain but more power backing it, may be regarded as an "IEM+" module, able to drive the same IEMs the AM1 module can drive, but with more power for bigger things. But the high power module, with a high gain, may well be noisier than the AM1 for IEMs. It depends on the final implementation.

I have noticed that when the x7 has been playing for a bit the pause button does not respond. However, if I turn the screen on, the play/pause button responds again for a while. Is this a known problem?

Sounds like an Android thing.
