The firmware seems to be the holdup. We want to make it more mature before shipping the X7 out to our customers. The X7 will have OTA firmware update capability in the mass shipments, ensuring that nobody misses out further updates down the line.

Thank you for your response. It is good to see that Fiio takes quality seriously. A release date would be much appreciated but no worries!

Hi, I have a question about the micro SD card. Does FIIO X7 support both Exfat and NTFS file system? It is important to me because my music is on NFTS or Exfat cards. Thanks

Exfat would have to be supported for cards exceeding 64GB unless they required a split formatting. But I'd wait for @Joe Bloggs for an official answer.
Another question : do someone tried to connect the X7 to an Android Wear like the LG Buddy to change the track from your smart watch? Thanks.

Usually Android Wear options require google framework, which the X7 lacks. While this could change, I would submit that unless your device doesn't need google framework to communicate, it likely will not work.

^ No one can help you unless they have heard all the dap's in question, seeing as you are primarily concerned with sound, no one owns both daps con-currently from what I can tell, which is the only way impressions count for anything imo. I've only seen one person write very short impressions of X7 vs DP-X1 in the DP-X1 thread. I think you will simply have to wait until more impressions come in to get any kind of idea, even then, I wouldn't trust anyone's impressions lol, and I think it's obvious whichever dap you went with you would be happy from a sonic perspective, both dap's measure very well for what it's worth, so imo just pick whichever dap plucks at your heart strings

This is exactly where I was on the fence between this and the Onkyo. I then realsed that in all likley hood they would all be very good. Fiio was a little smaller, I can buy from uk so dont have to worry about sending it back to pricejapan and definatly Fiio give firmware updates, with according to @Joe Bloggs an update to droid 5.x. The few reviews I have read it sounds exactly what I was looking for so ordered it last week.

Was curious Fiio are planning on implementing some of the google framework so we can use the play store for paid for apps on the play store?

The FiiO X7 just arrived here and after talks @ TAVES they said they want to add the Google Play store. I did listen to the X7 during the show and feel it is best to get a review sample and let her burn through 100+ hours before really diving deep into the review. Solid build and relatively fast GUI with a nice screen. With Android as the OS there are many things that can happen if FiiO desires :)

We would certainly want for the X7 to access the Play Store at some point. :L3000:

Please note however that since the original attempted development in 5.x and the subsequent rebuild at 4.x, I've heard no word of when an upgrade back to 5.x or beyond might take place. :xf_eek:

I thought the same thing... ordering in Japan scares me a bit. Not that i don't trust japanese people ;-p. It's just far and communication is hard. So i just ordered the xdp-100r in germany. I hope we both will be happy :)

  Hello,

I was just reading a lot in this forum about the FiiO x7. But i'm really not a specialist in technical details... i just can telle the difference between good and bad sound .

So... i have 3 devices that interest me a lot:
- FiiO x7
- Pioneer XDP-110r
- Onkyo DP-X1

I want to pair one of these with my perfect sound d902 headphones. I would 95% of all the time stream with TIDAL. The sound has to be dynamic and clear. I listen everything... but mostly faster stuff like rock or metal.

They have all the same Pricetag... the formfactor is also similar... i don't know what to buy, since i have a big questionmark over quality :frowning2:. I have no possibility to test em...
Maybe you can help me. (sorry for the poor english. Its not my main language).

Thanks a lot!

do you have the 16Ohms/102db version or the 50Ohms/100db one ?

If your usage would be wifi streaming of Tidal, I'd seriously also consider the Sony ZX2 as an option. Now I don't have your headphone so I do not know if the ZX2 can drive it well or not.
My ZX2 can keep playing a youtube video playlist (display ON) for a full night cycle and still have ample juice for normal music listening for the rest of the day.
I don't remember a reviewer saying his/her Fiio X7 unit in Pure mode reached over 15h. Mostly under 10 iirc, and  this is with IEM module only. How long can it hope to last with the medium power amp + Wifi + apps + Tidal streaming?

While I get that you love the ZX2, and a fine device it is, but it is an expensive, somewhat older design now (technical merits), and many people don't care about extreme battery life (although I'm sure plenty of people do). Given what is now available as opposed to when the ZX2 first came out it would be a little questionable to spend that kind of money on it. The ZX2 is supposed to sound amazing, but then so is the X7, the DP-X1 and I'm sure other DAPs. I will be shocked if the ZX2 isn't replaced (or updated) within a year, and if that does come to pass it would be awesome if Sony included an amplifier in it of at least 75Mw, but hell I would even consider 50Mw from them a step in the right direction. As said before, I'm a Sony fan, but no fan of the now right out there price of the ZX2.

The price and the power output was what turned me off of the Zx2. I was interested in their ZX DAP line after getting the Z5 iem earlier in the ear, but those two things really killed it for me. I am really loving the X7 these days, plenty of power on tap and much easier on the wallet!

When is your Onkyo coming in btw? Really looking forward to your impressions on those
