Just a note that the X3ii plays SACD .iso just fine but only the DSD codec. I have an .iso that contains both DSD and DST, and only the DSD is playable on the X3ii.

So I don't see a reason for the X7 not to play .iso.

Fiio x3 2 and x5 2 can play sacd iso although not dst format. You can extract iso files with a program like WinRar.

Don't you people know what an ISO is? (I am completely confounded by the technical ineptitude here) An ISO is just a disk image. That's why next to none is supporting it on a player, it's a completely different beast. It's meant to contain literally ANY AND EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN that is meant to be burned to a disk or make 'bit for bit' copies of said disk. The few players that can read an ISO have gone through some hoops that really do not apply directly to the audio world. Seriously the lack of convergence here is frightening, and part of why I'v become primarily a lurker here at this point)

Aren't SACD basically iso files specialized in music ?
One could think that if a DAP can read a SACD, it can read an iso.

But yes I agree with you that this is just going overboard. If the DAP can read the usual formats, and SACD+DSD, that's already a ******* lot. I would be dumbfounded if it could also decode iso files on the fly but who knows ? Definitely not me.

If having you contribute means the rest of us having to endure insults of the type you fling around in your last post then we are definitely the benefactors of your gradually decreasing input to these forums.

This is an enthusiast site. Why in the world would you expect any level of technical proficiency from the majority of the membership here?

True. There is a lot of things to be learned and everybody is at different levels. I could run of some technical jargon but that would get me and everyone else nowhere.

Firstly it has to be a Hybrid SACD before it contains the Redbook and Scarlett Book standards. Not to be confused with DVD-A.

This is why we need one standardised format.

All I'm saying is we should know about what we're asking for first before asking for it. It only makes sense, enthusiast or not. And if it was taken as an insult I can't really apologize for it. I tend to be er.. blunt in delivery sure, but the knowledge of a few major point is grossly lacking and a bit more research is mandatory on all of us if we're really going to be inputting to our beloved James and really understanding some of the decisions they've made thus far, or any of our gear creators which have put in the time and effort to actually listen to their fateful and hopefuls, honestly.

Besides I'm sure we could all agree there have been some real 'insults' given by some higher ups in this community that have gone unchecked so yeah. If that's considered insulting then meh. Not my intentions.
